NOTES
Introduction: These cheery woodland animals
make a fun crib mobile, and include a squirrel,
racoon, fox, hedgehog, toadstool, acorn and
leaves. This pattern incorporates intarsia colour-
work, and the squirrel uses a loop stitch. You will
also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work
increases and decreases, and sew seams.

Work at: All pieces are worked flat (back and

forth) on the single pointed knitting needles, not in colours together every time you change to avoid

the round. The mobile is suspended on single making holes.

TO SUSPEND THE MOBILE

Using a 3.5mm crochet hook and beige yarn,

crochet a single chain 15cm long and bind off.
Make 3 more identical chains. Wrap one end of
each around the embroidery hoop and sew in
place. Sew the other 4 ends together at the top
and hang the mobile from this point.

To suspend the animals, crochet single chains in

beige yarn in 7cm to 10cm lengths. Sew one end
of the chain onto the top of the toy, and wrap the
other end around the embroidery hoop and sew in
place. Suspend the toadstool from the centre top.
For each leaf, weave in the cast off tail and sew the
cast on edge onto the beige crochet chain.
