Electoral College Questions

The Electoral College is a group that selects national leaders, with electors chosen by state legislatures or popular vote. It was established to prevent a candidate from being elected solely based on regional support and to ensure a broader representation of the nation's will. If no presidential candidate receives enough votes, the House elects the president from the top three candidates, while the Senate elects the vice president from the top two, and the author advocates for disbanding the Electoral College as it has become largely ceremonial and undermines the popular vote.

It was made to ensure that a candidate with overwhelming support in only one part of the
country would not be elected over the will of the rest of the nation and to pick the

Explain your answer with supporting evidence for your reasons.

I believe that the United States should disband the electoral college because even though it
may have been relevant when it was first created it is now mostly a formality and when it
is not a formality it only interferes with the vote of the people.
