4) A step down chopper has a resistive load of 10Ω & an input voltage of 120V. When the
chopper is turned on, the voltage drop across the switch is 1V. The chopping frequency is
0.5 kHz. If the duty cycle is 40%, determine the average output voltage, RMS output voltage,
efficiency of the chopper & the effective input resistance of the chopper.

5) a) Describe the working of a three phase full-bridge inverter (VSI) with phase & line voltage
waveforms & circuit diagram for resistive star connected load. Assume the duration of
conduction of each SCR to be 120 degrees OR 180 degrees as per your choice.

c) What are the methods to improve the power factor of a phase controlled converter?
