The Competency-Based Approach (CBA) is an educational framework that
focuses on developing learners' abilities to perform real-world tasks effectively.
It shifts away from traditional rote learning and emphasizes active, student-
centered learning.
1. Learning Outcomes & Competencies
Learning is structured around clear, measurable competencies rather than
       vague objectives.
Competencies include knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for real-
       world application.
2. Student-Centered Learning
Students play an active role in constructing their own knowledge rather
       than passively receiving information.
The teacher acts as a facilitator rather than the sole source of knowledge.
3. Real-World Relevance
Learning is contextualized with real-life situations.
Activities should be authentic, such as writing emails, engaging in debates,
       or solving practical problems.
4. Task-Based & Problem-Solving Approach
Learning is structured around tasks and projects that mimic real-world
       challenges.
Students develop critical thinking, creativity, and decision-making skills.
5. Integration of Skills
Language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) are taught in an
       integrated way, not in isolation.
Lessons reflect how skills are used naturally in daily communication.
6. Continuous Assessment & Feedback
Focuses on formative assessment (self-assessment, peer feedback, teacher
       feedback).
Traditional tests are replaced with competency-based evaluation, such as
       presentations, portfolios, and real-life tasks.
7. Learner Autonomy & Collaboration
Students take responsibility for their own learning through self-directed
       learning strategies.
Collaboration is encouraged through group work, peer teaching, and
       interactive activities.
8. Differentiation & Adaptability
Teaching is adapted to different learning styles and student needs.
The approach is flexible, allowing learners to progress at their own pace.
