1. What is your research study all about?
This research study we wanted to see which method was better for
helping students learned how to find information, also to determine the effectiveness of these both method in
terms of credibility, resources, time efficiency and date of information of these both method.
.
2. Why did you choose this study? We chose this study because we want to understand the modern world of
research, we observed that there’s a lot of BEED students uses google search engine now, but we wanted to
know if it was actually helping students become better at research. We also noticed that BEED students rely on
google search without thinking about whether the information is trustworthy or not. We also wanted to see if
traditional library were still valuable resource for research even though google is so popular.
3. Why did you choose the particular title for your research? - the title was chosen because it clearly explains the
research main purpose. First, the word comparative it is because the study compares google search and
traditional library resources. Second, is the word effectiveness it is because the study is focused on how will each
method helps students develop research skill.
4. What is the scope of your study?- The study focus on specific group of people, it is limited to 30 BEED students
who regularly utilized google search engine and traditional library resources at city of malabon university. The
study explores this comparison through the use of different aspect, the research skills assessment, credibility,
resources, time efficiency and date of information.
5. What phenomenon were you trying to understand with this research?- We wanted to understand the specific
situation happening in the world on education, knowing that there is so much information available online and
its not always easy to know which sources are trustworthy. We also wanted to see if Google Search and
traditional library was really helping students learn how to find and evaluate information or if it is was making
things more difficult.
6. Who will be most benefited in your research?- this research help students understand how to use google search
and traditional library effectively, it can also help teachers teach students how to research more effectively and
lastly it can also help school decide how to make there library and technology work together.
7. Did your research questions evolve during the process? If so, how?- Yes, at first we simply wanted to see if the
google search or the library was better for research using different questions but as we did the research we
started to notice that if we comparing these two source of information, we need to make a same questions in
order for us to compare these both in terms of the five key aspects, research skill assessment, credibility,
resources, time efficiency and date of information.
8. What gaps did you intend to bridge with your research?- we wanted to fill in some missing information.
Specifically in our literature review, we find some difficulties finding studies that is related to our research.
9. Why is your research significant? This research is important because it shows us how to use technology and
traditional sources effectively., It also important for us to be aware to the level of effectiveness of using google
search engine and traditional library resources specially for the students who are over relaying on google search
without knowing that not all the information on google are trustworthy and also we want students to be
knowledgeable about using google search and traditional library effectively.
10. What would you expect to find in your research?- we expected that both method s have their strength and
weaknesses and that using them together is the most effective way to research
11. Why did you choose particular research methodology?- We choose quantitative research in order for us to
determine the difference between variable using numerical data and statistical techniques from the use of
survey questionnaire .
12. What sources did you use for data collection? We used a survey questionnaire to collect data and provide a
specific questions that were designed to find out how students use google search and library.
13. How can your research be put into practice?- the finding can be use to improved students research, schools can
use the finding to improve the way they teach students about research skills and it also teach students how to
use both methods, teachers can encourage students to use google search and traditional library resources and
lasty it can make the library more useful and accessible.
14. How will your findings contribute to the related area of knowledge?- the google search and traditional library are
important and they can be use together to improve research skill and it also shows that teacher and school need
to be aware of the impact of technology on learning on how to best use both old and new methods.
15. Did you experience any limitations in your research?- The limitation that we observed is limited sample it is
because we only studied students at city of malabon university. We also relied on students to tell about their
experiences so the answers might not be completely accurate.
16. What sampling techniques did you use?- We used purposive sampling it is because we choose students who
regularly utilized both google search and traditional library they could get better understand on how each
methods is use in practice.
17. What are the dependent and independent variables in your research- The two independent variable in our
research are the two different methods or research , the google search engine and traditional library resources,
the dependent variable is the research skills how students find information, evaluate information base on
research skills using these two methods.
18. What area do you suggest for further research? We suggest for future research to expand the scope of the study
because our study only focused on Bachelor of Elementary education students, they can include all the different
courses or department this would help us understand if the results of this research are true for many different
kinds of students. We also suggest since our respondents are future researchers, if they already in the field we
suggest the continues study, because we all know that research are evolving over time.
