Approval iii (To be written and signed by the Supervisor, and Head of Department)
Dedication iv (Any person you choose to honour)
Acknowledgment v (God, your supervisor, other lecturers, staff, family members, and
any person who assisted in the research work but who is not part of
dedication).
Abstract vi (Summary of your work. It includes the motivations for the work, the
problems that you want to solve, the methods of data collection, computer
science methodology used for the analysis and design, choice of
programming language, and the result obtained).
Table of contents vii (Do not include the dots).
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study Here, you have to prove that you understood your RESEARCH
TOPIC. You have to state what motivated you to embark on the
research. You also have to state an existing model which has
attempted to solve the problems that you want to solve and identify
the areas the model was unable to address. You will then finally
show how you intend to address the problems.
1.2 Statement of Problems Here, you have to list out all the measurable problems that you want
to solve. e.g. i. There are errors in staff name.
1.3 Aim and Objectives The aim of the research is consummated in the research topic.
Therefore, you can state as follows: The aim of this research is to
design and implement …. The specific objectives are the paths used
to achieve the aim. The list should correlate with the list in the
statement of problems. e.g.
i. To design a platform that would prevent errors in staff name.
1.4 Significance of the Study Here, you state the benefits of the research to the society, groups and
associations, and/or individuals.
1.5 Scope of the Study Here, you state the area where your project should be implemented.
1.6 Limitations of the Study Here, you state the factors that made you unable to fully complete
your project. Remember that a project is always in partial fulfillment
of the requirements for an award. Therefore, factors such as time,
finance, inability to access required materials, etc could affect the
project.
1.7 Definition of Terms Here, you define all the items or words used in your research that
would make readers properly understood your work.
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW You should review a minimum of fifteen publications that relate to
your RESEARCH TOPIC. You should adopt the APA style in your
citations. The APA style is as follows:
1. In the beginning of a sentence:
Nwosu (2011) stated that Internet is a global interconnection of
computer networks that share resources and data using specific
protocols.
2. In the middle of a sentence
We are in a dynamic world which Chijioke (2015) views as
integrating and interfacing current technologies.
3. At the end of a sentence
Nigeria is among the countries that have adopted the United
Nations resolution on green house emission (Onyeka, 2016).
CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGIES AND SYSTEM ANALYSIS
3.1 Methodologies You have to show a good understanding of modern methodologies,
especially, Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology
(SSADM), Prototyping, Expert System Methodology (ESM) and
Object Oriented Design Methodology (OODM). You should note
the working relations of each methodology. For instance, SSADM
requires Entity Relationships, OODM requires Use Case Diagram,
etc.
3.2 System Analysis Meaning of system analysis
3.3 Data Collection Primary and secondary sources of data collection
3.4 Organization and its environment
3.5 Modus Operandi of the Present System
3.5.1 Input Analysis describe the inputs to the existing system
3.5.2 Process Analysis describe the processes of the existing system
3.5.3 Output Analysis describe the outputs of the existing system
3.5.4 Data Flow Diagram of the Present System (Draw the diagram)
3.6 Problems of the Present System (List the problems)
3.7 The Proposed System
3.8 High Level Model of the Proposed System
CHAPTER FOUR
SYSTEM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATIONS
4.1 Objectives of the Design (List the objectives as stated in the statement of problems)
4.2 Data Flow Diagram of the New System
4.2.1 Expanded DFDs to show all the processes and data stores
4.3 Database Specification
4.4 Program Module Specification
4.5 Input and Output Specification
4.5.1 Output Specification
4.5.2 Input Specification
4.6 Algorithms
4.7 System Flowchart
4.8 Program Flowchart
4.9 Data Dictionary
4.10 Choice of Programming Language Platform
4.10.1 System Implementation
4.10.2Hardware
4.10.3 System documentation
