Sir Issac Newton
Sir Issac Newton born on 25 December 1642 Woolsthorpe, England and died in March 31st 1727,
was an English polymath active as a mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and
author who was described in his time as a Natural Philosopher.
Isaac Newton was born to a widowed mother(Hannah Ayscough), his father died three months prior
(Issac Newton), and was not expected to survive, being tiny and weak. Shortly Newton was sent by
his stepfather, the well-to-do minister Barnabas Smith, to live with his grandmother and was
separated from his mother. His father was a wealthy, uneducated farmer who died three months
before Newton was born.
Isaac Newton changed the way we understand the Universe. Revered in his own lifetime, he
discovered the laws of gravity and motion and invented calculus.
It was an afternoon while Isaac Newton was sitting or somewhere it is said that he was taking a nap
that an apple fell on his head or nearby him. This simple incident made him pushed to research
further and eventually he discovered the gravitation.
His focus on gravity and laws of motion are linked to his breakthrough in calculus.
Invented the reflecting telescope, in late 1668 Isaac Newton built his first reflecting telescope. He
chose an alloy (speculum metal) of tin and copper as the most suitable material for his objective
mirror.
Proposed new theory of light and color, Newton began his investigations by cutting a pinhole in his
window shade to let in sunlight, which showed up on his wall as a round illuminated area. Refracted
by a prism, it turned into an oblong area with a rainbow of colors.
Developed three laws of motion, Sir Isaac Newton first discovered his Three Laws of Motion by
studying astronomy and the works of earlier scientists
Advanced early modern chemistry, discovery of the role of air, and of gases generally, in chemical
reactions.
Sir Isaac Newton only had one true failure - he never figured out what caused gravity or even why
gravity was the way it was.
