The designated person will call the Candidates while the instrumental hymn of the Sacred Heart
of Jesus played.
BLESSING OF THE SCAPULARS
PRIEST: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: who made heaven and earth.
Priest: The Lord be with you
All: And with your Spirit
Priest: LET US PRAY. O Almighty and everlasting God, You do not forbid us to represent
your saints in stone or paint, so that as often as we look upon their likenesses with the eyes of
the body, we may with the eyes of mind, meditate upon their deeds, in Your kindness we beg
You to bless and sanctify these scapulars (badges etc.) meant to honor and call to mind the
Sacred Heart of your only begotten Son our Lord, Jesus Christ, so that whoever while wearing
them would humbly strive to serve and honor the Sacred Heart of Your only begotten Son, our
Lord Jesus Christ may, by His merits and intercession gain from Your grace in the present life
and eternal glory in life to come. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

CONSECRATION OF THE NEW MEMBERS TO THE SACRED HEART:
All recite this prayer
O Eternal Father, we are gathered here today to consecrate ourselves to service of Your divine
Son in the Apostleship of Prayer. Although as Apostleship of Prayer we are scattered
throughout the four corners of this earth, still we are one in our desire to honor the Heart of
Your beloved Son, one in our purpose to spread the devotion to His Most loving Heart among
all people, and to establish the reign of love on earth. We pray that the acts of self oblations,
offered daily by our members ascend to You becoming a sacrifice in an odor of sweetness. We
ask that you units these offerings of ourselves with Christ’s offering of His life on the cross for
the remission of our sins. Listen to the prayer of that Divine Heart pleading for us. May His
Precious Blood not have been shed in vain! May His patient love overcome our indifference and
ingratitude and give us true repentance for all our sins help us, O Lord, to make others realize
the power of the apostleship of prayer so that now influence may reach the hearts of all men
and this Your Kingdom may be established throughout the world. Amen.
The impositions of Badges
The priest say while the new members wearing the badges
Priest: Receive this Badge of the Apostleship of Prayer in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Priest: Receive this certificate as a pledge of your union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen
Formal Acceptance
The priest will now announce to the new members:
Beside the many indulgences you may gain, I wish to announce that on this day of your formal
acceptance to the Apostleship of Prayer, you gain a plenary indulgence; provided you fulfill the
conditions of confession, Communion and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. You also
gain one plenary indulgence when you wear the badge of the sacred Heart.
Closing formula
Priest: By virtue of the powers granted to me, I accept and enroll you in the Apostleship of
Prayer in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and make you sharers of all the graces, benefits,
indulgences and spiritual privileges of the same association, in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
