CODE OF CONDUCT

RESPECT

It is expected that all students will exhibit behavior that shows respect for the school’s
values and vision, property and safety of themselves and others, which includes
teachers, peer group and school staff.

Expectations:

1. All students to observe and respect the vision and values of the school.
2. All students to respect other’s physical personal space at all times.
3. All students to be sensitive to and respectful of gender, race, religious
differences, neurodivergent needs, and individual differences.
4. All students to respect their environment by keeping it clean and tidy, and
making sure to engage in judicious use of the resources.
5. All students to be respectful and responsible towards possession; their own,
other’s and school’s.

Violation of Respect in the school would include behaviors like:

● Using inappropriate language with the different school members like


classmates, teachers, school staff.
● Damage or misuse of school property or belongings of others
● Running or loitering in the corridors
● Hurting someone based on their caste, gender, religion, neurodivergent needs
through words or actions
● Causing disturbance in the classroom (any behavior that disrupts teaching and
learning)
● Failure to follow direction by a teacher or authorized support staff.This includes
disrespectful body language or tone.
● Causing a disturbance in a hallway, lobby, lavatory, or other common areas

ORDERLY CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOUR

All students will abstain from any physical, written or verbal disturbance,
communication/ activity, within the school setting or during related activities, which
may interrupt or interfere with teaching and orderly conduct of school activities.

Bullying-

Bullying is any repeated behavior by an individual or group that causes harm or


distress to another. It may be verbal, physical, social, or cyberbullying, and can occur
in person or through digital communication. Bullying and cyberbullying are prohibited
at school. “At school” is defined as on school premises, in a school-related vehicle,
at school-sponsored events, or using telecommunications access devices or a
telecommunications service provider under control or ownership of the school.

Examples of bullying include but are not limited to:


1. Verbal bullying- teasing, name-calling, threats, inappropriate comments.
2. Physical bullying- hitting,pushing, tripping, damaging belongings.
3. Social bullying- spreading rumors, exclusion, public humiliation.
4. Cyberbullying- harmful messages or posts through digital platforms.

Expectations:

● Physical Space- Maintain personal space and respect others' boundaries by


keeping hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
● Responsible Movement- Move quietly and orderly in hallways and between
classes and in common areas, such as stairwells and entrances.
● Participation and Engagement- Engage in school activities positively and
respectfully and support your classmates in collaborative efforts.
● Respectful Communication- Speak kindly and listen attentively to
others.Use appropriate language and tone in all interactions.
● School Bus Behavior- Maintain decorum within the bus, and respect physical
and verbal boundaries.
● Classroom Behavior- Arrive on time and be prepared for class. Follow
classroom rules and participate actively in discussions.

Violations of Conduct:

Violations of this Code of Conduct regarding bullying include, but are not limited to:

● Engaging in Bullying Behavior- Any form of physical, verbal, relational, or


cyberbullying directed at another student.
● Witnessing Bullying and Not Reporting- Failing to report witnessed bullying
incidents to an adult.
● Retaliation- Threatening or intimidating someone who reports bullying or
supports a victim.
● Creating a Hostile Environment- Making comments or engaging in actions
that create fear or distress among peers.

GADGET USAGE/DIGITAL USE

Expectations:

● Mobile Usage: Parents must obtain prior approval for their child to use a
mobile phone when traveling alone via public transportation.
● Allowed Devices: Only laptops are permitted for student use; tablets are
not allowed.
● Social media: If the terms and policies of said social media platform is not
followed the school is liable to report the account.

PUNCTUALITY

Expectations

● Students are expected to respect the arrival time for school.


● No late comings are allowed.

ATTENDANCE

Expectations

● All students are required to attend school daily and actively participate in all
scheduled classes.
● Absences are classified as Excused or Unexcused.
○ Excused Absences include illness, family emergencies, religious
observances, and other circumstances approved by school
administration.
○ Unexcused Absences include absences without a valid reason or prior
approval.

Reporting Absences

● Parents/guardians must take approval from the school of a student’s absence


providing a reason for the same.
● Written or digital documentation may be required within 3 days of the
student’s return to school to verify excused absences.

Excessive Absences

● Frequent Absences: If a student accumulates [number, e.g., 5 or more]


unexcused absences in a term, the school will schedule a meeting with the
student’s parents/guardians to address any underlying issues.
● Chronic Absenteeism: Students who miss [number, e.g., 10%] or more of
school days within an academic year for additional support and may be
subject to interventions to improve attendance.

Consequences for Unexcused Absences

○ Loss of participation in extracurricular activities or privileges.
○ In-class consequences as outlined by the Base Group Teacher.

INTEGRITY

The school is committed to fostering an intellectual and ethical environment based


on the principles of Academic Integrity. Academic Integrity encompasses honesty and
responsibility, and awareness relating to ethical standards for the conduct of research
and presentation of their work. The Institution believes that in all academic work,
others’ ideas and contributions must be appropriately acknowledged.
Expectations:

● All students are expected to properly acknowledge and cite the ideas, results,
material or words of others with references.
● All students are expected to represent their own ideas and work, and complete
their assignments and work with honesty and integrity.
● All students must provide complete references and necessary citations.
● All students to make sure that all work submitted as his or her own in a course
or other academic activity is produced without the aid of impermissible
materials or impermissible collaboration.
● All students should treat all other students in an ethical manner, respecting
their Integrity and right to pursue their educational goals without interference.
This requires that a student neither facilitates academic dishonesty by others
nor obstructs their academic progress.

Violation of Integrity in the school would include behaviors like:

● Copying someone else’s work and presenting as their own work without
mentioning credibility
● Wilful or malicious false accusations/reports against school personnel or other
students.
● Using technology for the means of hurting someone, spreading rumors or
spreading false accusations
● Not copying, changing, reading, or using files in another user’s storage area
(such as hard disk space, mail, server space, personal folder, etc.) without the
user’s permission.
● Plagiarism- Plagiarism involves presenting work or ideas from another source
as your own, with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating
it into your work without full acknowledgement. This includes unpublished or
published. Plagiarism can also include reusing your own work without
citation.
● Cheating- Cheating may include cheating during examination, or even
copying assignments without permission, presenting someone else’s work as
their own, signing another student’s name on an assignment or report.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Substance use refers to the consumption of alcohol, drugs, vapes, tobacco products
or other psychoactive substances. Substance abuse involves the harmful or
hazardous use of these substances, resulting in negative consequences for the
individual and their community.

Expectations:

● No Use or Possession: All students are prohibited from using, possessing, or


distributing illegal substances or alcohol on school property or during school-
sponsored events.
● Supportive Environment: Students should foster a culture of support by
encouraging peers to make healthy choices and seek help if they are struggling
with substance-related issues.
● Reporting Violations: All students are expected to report any incidents of
substance use or abuse to school authorities to maintain a safe and healthy
environment.
● Respect for Health: Students should prioritize their own health and well-being
by avoiding substances that can impair their physical or mental abilities.

DRESS AND GROOMING

The dress code establishes guidelines for acceptable attire, ensuring that students
present themselves in a manner that is respectful and conducive to a focused learning
atmosphere.
Grooming, on the other hand, pertains to the overall personal hygiene and
appearance of students, promoting a sense of pride and responsibility.

Expectation:

● Students must arrive at school in the prescribed school uniform, which should
always be clean, tidy, and complete.
● Footwear: Only plain black shoes and school socks are to be worn at all times.
● Overall Appearance: Students must ensure their uniform and overall
appearance are neat, decent, and respectful of the school's values.
● Skirt Length: Skirts should be knee-length or no more than two inches above
the knee. During winter, girls can wear black leggings under their skirts.
● Hair Grooming: Boys are expected to have short, neatly combed hair. Girls
with long hair must keep it tied back neatly.
● Nail extensions, hair coloring, and unconventional hairstyles or haircuts are
prohibited.
