and present media like video, audio, images, and text.
Multimedia software is fundamental to the creation and manipulation of digital content. It allows users

   Create:
   Develop new media from scratch, such as video clips, audio tracks, and visual designs.
  Edit:
 Modify existing media, including cutting and splicing video, adjusting audio levels, and
 applying visual effects.
   Manage:
   Organize and categorize media files for efficient storage and retrieval.
   Present:
   Combine different media elements to create interactive and engaging presentations.

The term "multimedia" was coined by Bob Goldstein in 1966, and the concept has been used
since 1962. Multimedia software, which combines various media types, developed over time with
advancements in computer technology. While no single individual can be credited as the sole
inventor, the evolution of multimedia software is a result of many researchers and engineers
contributing to its development.
The term "multimedia" was first used in 1966 by Bob Goldstein to promote his "Lightworks at
L'Oursin" show, which included various media formats

in the global market

VLC media player is a free, open-source, cross-
platform media player software developed by
the VideoLAN project. It's commonly known as
VLC and was ori-ginally called VideoLAN Client.
VLC is a versatile tool that can play a wide
variety of audio and video files, including discs,
streaming media, and even webcams. 
VLC Media Player is a ver-satile tool for playing
various media formats and streaming protocols.
It can handle a wide range of audio and video
files, including DVDs, audio CDs, VCDs, and
multimedia files.

application available for Android and iOS,
with a strong focus on video playback. It
supports a wide range of video formats,
offers features like subtitle support and
hardware acceleration, and also functions
as a streaming platform with original and
licensed content. MX Player was originally
a video player, but was later expanded
into an OTT platform with original
programming. It was acquired by Amazon
in 2024.
