REVISION FOR CLASS B THEORY

What u have to know regarding theory...

USE OF DRUGS AND OTHER TOXICANTS AND EFFECTS

-use of drugs diminish the individual's fitness to drive.. Even relatively small quantities of drugs
can diminish fitness to drive.
-A person who took alcohol shud sleep atleast 10hrs before he can drive.
-A drug addict someone shud submit a proof from da hospital that he spent a year without
taking drugs before he can be issued a license.
-Use of drugs while driving can result in disqualification of ur drivers license.

-Veering off the roadway is a common factor that result in accidents. -It is caused by fatique and
other toxicants......

-If you feel tired while driving, stop for some exercises/ just take a short break / sleep for atleast
90 minutes..

.
Dats what u have to know about drugs and other intoxicants

RIGHT OF WAY RULE

As a rule a driver shud consider the sign before considering the right of way rule... If there is no
sign infront, thats when u strictly use da right of way rule.....

-for example, There are 3 cars waiting to take off. yours, a truck and a bus... There is a give way
sign infront of you.... The bus in on ur right side and on your left side is a truck.....

-consider the give way sign and let the vehicles pass before you.
-The truck goes first because it’s on ur right then the bus goes 2nd and lastly its u....

The same situation when there is no sign infront of you...

-The truck will still pass infront of you because it on ur right side... Then u pass infront of the bus
because you are on its right side...

-Right of way e letlella koloi e mo right go tsena pele ga gago.... But only ha go sena sign ha
pele ga gago ke gone o e dirisang..... Ha go na le sign ya give way or stop o followa sign... Go
raa o emela tse dingwe gor di tsene.....

-Ha o sena sign o letlella e mo right gore e tsene pele.... Den if u are on right side of the ada
vehicle o ka tsena ha pele ga yone

RULE OF THUMB

Stopping distance
braking distance
reaction distance

Reaction distance formula

speed / 10 * 3

braking distance formula

speed/10 * speed/10

stopping distance formula

braking distance + reaction distance

Example (I will use one example to calculate all the three)

Q. You have a reaction time of 1sec. What stopping distance must you recorn with when you
are travelling at a speed of 100km/h?

reaction distance = Speed in km/h÷10×3 breaking distance ≈speed/10 * speed / 10

=100÷10×3 =100/10 * 100/10
=30m =10 * 10

=100m

Stopping distance = reaction + braking

= 30 + 100

=130m

CREATED AND EDITED BY FNK MOT

3
Calculate braking distance from da above question

Braking distance= speed÷10 × speed ÷10

=100÷10 × 100÷10
10 × 10
=100m

Calculate reaction distance from the above question

reaction distance = Speed in km/h÷10×3

=100/10 * 3

=30m

YOUNG DRIVERS, ELDERS AND TODLERS BEHAVIOUR ON THE ROADWAY

Note the following:

-Young drivers are the most ppl who are involved in car accidents.
-They like to test themselves and the performance of their cars and end up in situations they
can’t handle
-Accidents mostly happen at night after visits to night clubs... The reason being high spirits (ba
tlagilwe)
-Children often play into the roadway without considering any danger.
-if a driver see children playing beside da roadway, you shud reduce speed or stop if necessary
to avoid endangering them because some can run or jump into the roadway without looking.
-So as a driver, as a rule you must approach a place wher ther are children at a slow speed
always e.g school
-When you are driving past the bus which is offloading, you shud reduce speed to avoid
endangering pasengers who jus got off from the bus. Because their view is obstructed by the
bus. (bus e ba sirile so ga ba kgone go bona ur car e tlang)
-Old people particularly at a zebra crossing.... U shud let them pass because some hv poor
sight so they may just try to cross the road without looking.....

Thats all u hv to know bwt the behaviour of old, young drivers nd kids
