Unit 1:Imagine that your Australian pen friend is coming to Viet Nam and will spend a day
in your hometown/city. He/She has asked for your advice on the places of interest they
should go to and the things they can do there. Write an email to give him/her some.
Dear Mira,
It's great to know that you're coming to Viet Nam. What a pity you can only spend one day in Ha
Noi.
There are so many interesting places in the city, but I think within one day you should be able to
visit three places. The first place I suggest is the Viet Nam National Museum of History. You
like history, so it's a must-see place. There's an extensive collection of artefacts tracing Viet
Nam's history. They're arranged chronologically from primitive life to modern times. The second
place is Hoan Kiem Lake. It's one of the symbols of Ha Noi. There you can enjoy the beautiful
scenery and visit Ngoc Son Temple. You can also have a look at the Old Quarter. Wander
around the old streets and some ancient houses to explore Vietnamese culture.
Conveniently, these places are close to one another, so we can walk around easily.
Tell me when you're coming, so I can show you around these places.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
Love,
Unit 2 : write a paragraph about drawback of living in the city.
Living in a city has a number of drawbacks. Firstly, there is the problem of traffic jams and
traffic accidents. The increase in population and the increasing number of vehicles have caused
many accidents to happen every day. Secondly, air pollution negatively affects people's health,
and it also has a bad influence on the environment. More and more city dwellers suffer from
coughing or breathing problems. Thirdly, the city is noisy, even at night. Noise pollution comes
from the traffic and from construction sites. Buildings are always being knocked down and
rebuilt. These factors contribute to making city life more difficult for its residents.
Write a letter to your pen friend about: your last visit to a craft village.
Dear Lan,
I got a wonderful trip with Nam to Chang Son fan - making village last weekend.
For a long time, the Chang Son fan was not only a useful utensil in daily life, but also a beautiful
image appearing in many poems, on stage and in the cultural and spiritual life. To make a
beautiful and durable fan requires meticulousness and skillfulness from fan makers. Normally,
the fan's blades are made from bamboo, which are at least three years old and grow in the middle
of a grove.
Moreover, to make fans more durable, the fan makers use joined blades, which have to undergo
many stages, such as cutting the bamboo into short pieces, scratching off its green cover,
splitting the bark of bamboo and applying a layer of varnish between the slats. Then, they are
tied up in a bunch.
After a few months when the layer of varnish is dry, the slats of bamboo are whittled to make the
fan blades. Paper to make fans must be do (poonah) or diep (poonah paper covered with egg -
shell powder) bought in Dong Ho Village, Bac Ninh Province. Looking at the Chang Son fans,
only simple colours, such as green, red, violet and yellow are seen. However, when the fans are
unfolded and seen in the light, all the delicate decorative pattern, and designs will appear lively
and bright. To foreigners, they can see the characteristics of the Vietnamese people: simple but
profound, and beautiful but discreet.
I am look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes,
UNIT 4 :Choose one facility which was not available twenty years ago and write a short
description of how students in the past studied without that facility.
(Chọn một cơ sở vật chất không được sử dụng cách đây 20 năm rồi viết 1 đoạn văn về chủ đề
học sinh ngày xưa làm thế nào để học mà không có cơ sở vật chất đó.)
In your writing, you should include:
(Trong bài viết nên có)
- what facility it is (đó là cái gì)
- what it is used for (nó được sử dụng vào việc gì)
- how students did the job in the past when they didn't have it (học sinh phải làm gì nếu không có
nó)
- how you feel about the change (bạn cảm thấy thế nào về sự thay đổi đó)
It is most likely that students twenty years ago were not able to enjoy the Internet in their studies.
That's why it took them a lot of time, energy, and even money, to do a project that we can now
easily complete in one or two days. For example, when being asked to write an assignment about
past habits, the students had to go to the library, look for books on the topic, read the books, and
hand-write any information that they thought was useful for their assignment. They would also
have to meet with some old people and talk to them about the past. At home, they had to hand-
write their assignment, possibly with a lot of erasing and rewriting of the first draft. After
finishing the draft, they had to write a clean copy on another piece of paper for submission.

UNIT 6 : write about three of me following qualities would be necessary for people living in an
extended family.
There are many qualities would be necessary for people living in an extended family. Firstly,
willingness to share is quite essential for all members of extended families because we live with
lots of others including our grandparents and relatives, we have to share almost everything such
as bedrooms, bathrooms, televisions or computers.Secondly, being able to be sympathetic is
considered as an important quality to live in harmony with the extended family. Generation gaps
are unavoidable, but if each member learns to understand and respect others’ perspectives,
generation gaps will not be big troubles. Finally, in order to maintain harmony in the extended
family, everyone needs to take care of as well as support each other. Each member ought to be
willing to help others whenever they encounter difficulties. The encouragement and help from
the family partly assist them in overcoming obstacles.
UNIT 7 : EATING HABIT
I don’t not have a healthy eating habits.I sometimes skips breakfast. When I have it, I usually
buy a hamburger and a soft drink from a café near our school. For lunch, my favourite is fried
rice and deep-fried chicken. The good thing is that i prefers to have dinner at home. However, I
likes eating a lot of rice and fatty pork for dinner. I rarely eat vegetables, but I love fruits.
I think I should change my diet. Firstly, if I want to have more energy for the day, I should
never skip breakfast. Secondly, I must reduce the amount of fast food I eat. Also, eating more
vegetables would be good for me. I should also eat less rice for dinner. These changes will
definitely keep me fit.
UNIT 8 : THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF TOURISM ON A REGION OR COUNTRY.
Tourism plays an important role in a economic development; however, it causes some negative
effects. One of the most catastrophic effect is environmental pollution. The first thing is that
tourism often puts pressure on natural resources through over-comsuption, often in places where
resources are already scare. Next, tourism puts enormous stress on local land use, and can lead to
soil erosion, increased pollution, natural habitat loss, and more pressure on endangered species.
The habitats of plants and wildlife are lost due to the construction of tourist areas and tourist
activities. To sum up, the development of tourism has a serious effect without a suitable control
UNIT 9 : WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOU USE ENGLISH FOR IN YOUR DAILY LIFE.
I use English for different purposes in my everyday life. Firstly, English helps me communicate
with people all over the world. I have made friends with some students from the UK and
Australia. I use English to chat with them about many things. Secondly, English helps me get
information and improve my knowledge. Because almost any information is available in English,
it is easy for me to get access to all sources of information with my English. Finally, English is
useful when I want to go abroad to study. A lot of schools and universities in different countries
which provide scholarships and courses in English. I am learning English hard to get an IELTS
score of 6.5 so that next year I can go to Australia to study. In conclusion, English is useful for
me in various ways.
UNIT 11: HOW DO YOU THINK THE ROLES OF TEENAGERS WILL CHANGE IN
THE FUTURE. WRITE A PARAGRAPH ABOUT IT
It is likely that teenagers in the future will be more in charge of their studies. There are at least
two reasons for this. Firstly, there is the rise of the Internet, which provides teenagers with
various reliable sources of information. It also allows teenagers to develop a large social network
with their peers. They can therefore self-search, exchange, and discuss information in order to
plan their studies. Secondly, the fact that they start school early and spend a lot of time by
themselves when their parents go out to work makes them more independent. Decision-making
will become a larger part of their lives. Teens will make decisions concerning their own lives,
instead of being told what to do and how to do it. In short, these are the two reasons why
teenagers will become more responsible for their studies.
UNIT 12 :WRITE A PARAGRAPH ABOUT THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT
QUALITIES A PERSON NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO DO A JOB WELL.
From my point of view, hard-working is the most important quality a person needs to be able to
do a job well. If you work hard, your job will be more perfect and you can check your mission
carefully. Secondly, to have a success career, you must be D and always eager to learn new
things. The world is always changing and updated, so studying new things is very vital.
Technology is developing every day, remember to always update news and open your mind as
soon as you can. Finally, remember to be optimistic. Optimism helps people gain effective
results and creation so that he/she can makes progress easily. If you have a pessimistic view
through life, you will feel bored when doing anything. As a results, your work will never be
effective and you will never be promoted.
In your opinion, what job will be the most popular in the next 10 years? Write a
paragraph of about 120 words to express your opinion. Remember to discuss why
you think so.
I think one of the most popular jobs in the future can be astronaut, the "driver" of
expensive spacecrafts. The first reason is many people are dreaming of flying into the
space and are willing to pay for such "trips" if the costs are not as high as they are now.
In fact, this kind of space travel has attracted many world's travel agencies to exploit, so
hopefully it will be much cheaper to follow such journeys. This also means the demand
for spacecraft drivers will be increasing. Secondly, astronauts will certainly be able to
make a bundle and the opportunities for this job will be much higher. Moreover, those
astronauts will also have many chances to travel between planets, and enjoy the
spectacular views from outside the Earth. In short, because of the increasing demand for
space travelling, the opportunities to earn money, and the interesting nature of the job,
this job will likely be a favourite job for many people in very near future.
Many teenagers don't have a healthy diet. They eat too much fat,
sugar and salt, and not enough fruit, vegetables and fibre. This can
lead to health problems in later life such as heart disease, cancer
and diabetes. Teenagers are still growing and need energy for their
bodies to grow properly. But they can get too many calories from
foods that are high in fat and sugar. These foods usually have little
or no fibre, so they don't fill you up for very long. If you eat these
foods regularly without eating meals with lots of fibre and veg, you
will probably become overweight or obese. This can be a problem
because being overweight or obese increases your risk of
developing many serious diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart
disease, stroke and some cancers. It also makes it harder for your
body to fight infections such as asthma and bronchitis (chronic lung
disease).
DRINK A LOT OF WATER,
EAT VEGETABLE AND FRUITS.
EAT LESS FAST FOOD.
DO MORE EXRCISE
DO NOT SKIP BREASFAST
