PRACTICAL ONE
TITLE: HOUSE KEEPING IN PAINTING
AIM:Todemonstratetheneedforacleanenvironmenttoensuresuccessfulpainting
MATERIALS:Duster,Thinner,Broom,Brushes,Water,Buckets,Ladder,Scaffold
PROCEDUE:
1.The environment was cleaned by ensuring that each tool is applied to the correct
surface
2.Athinner was used to remove paint stains on floor
3.Sawdustand paper were usedas protective sheet spread on the floor to reduce
falling
paint staining the floors.
4.The leftover was returned to the store
5.The floor of the workshop was later cleaned
PRECAUTIONS:
1.A face mask was used to protect against dust
2.Proper inspection of ladder and scaffold
3.Equipment/tools used were properly washed and stored

TITLE: PAINTINGOF WALL
AIM:To demonstrate the technique(s) of painting wall and ceilingsurface
MATERIALS:Emulsion,Surfaces,Broom,Brushes,Water,Buckets,Ladder, Roller
PROCEDUE:
1.All plaster splasheswere removedwith scraperto preparethe surfaces
2.Holes were adequately filled and sanded to give a levelled surface
3.A soft brush was used to remove dust.
4.The work was allowed for 30min to 1hr.
5.Emulsionpaint was dilutedwith 10% additional water and paintwas used as a
primer.
6.Later, full-strength emulsionwas applied to the surface and allowed to dry for
2hrs
7.The final coat of the emulsionwas applied and surface was protected until it
dries.
to 3hrs.
PRECAUTIONS:
1.PPE was used inline with the safety of painting surfaces
2.Holes, scratches or grooveswere all filled.
3.The leftover was well covered and store to prevent drying

TITLE: SURFACE TREATMENT OF WOOD AND PAINTING
AIM:To demonstrate to the students how to prepare and paint wood surfaces.
MATERIALS:Wood planed 300 x 80 x 21, Bitumen (glue and wood dust),Knotty
paint,
Wood primer, Glass paper, Wood finishing paint/oil paint, Brushes, Scaffold
PROCEDUE:
1.The woodwas rub downin the direction of the grain withaglass paper.
2.All the dust and dirt were cleaned from the surface.
3.The wood was sealed with a primer.
4.To prevent resin leakingknotswere sealedwith a mixture of shellac and
methylatted spirits.
5.Holes and cracksweresealedwith a plastic filler paste.
6.The surface was rubbed with glass paper to smooth the filler.
7.The undercoatand glass coat were brushed.
8.After the undercoat dries, with was rubbed again and a second coat of
undercoat
was applied.
9.The painted surfacewas protecteduntil it has dried.
PRECAUTIONS:
1.Hand gloves and goggleswere used by studentsto protect themselves from dust
and
chemicals.
2.The instructorensured the workspace was well-ventilated before painting began.
3.All loose wood dust was removed by sanding and wiping the surface properly.
4.The paint and solvents were kept away from open flames to prevent fire hazards.
