SHOPAN Child Dedication Liturgy
Introduction:
Pastor: "Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we gather today to dedicate [Child's name] to the Lord.
This is a special moment for [Parent's names] and our church family as we commit to pray for and
support this child as they grow in their faith."
Exaltation:
Pastor: "Let us take a moment to exalt our God, who is the giver of every good gift. Psalm 127:3
says, 'Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.' Let us give
thanks to God for this precious gift of [Child's name]."
Scripture Reading:
Pastor: "Let us read from Malachi 2:15, 'And did He not make them one? Yet in spirit and body they
were united. What does the Lord seek from this union? Godly offspring.' And also from Psalm
138:8, 'The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not
forsake the works of Your hands.'"
Charge to the Parents:
Pastor: "[Parent's names], as you dedicate [Child's name] to the Lord today, remember that you are
not only dedicating your child, but also yourselves to the task of raising them in the fear and
admonition of the Lord. May you be filled with wisdom, patience, and love as you guide [Child's
name] on their journey of faith."
Charge to the Church:
Pastor: "And to our church family, let us commit to supporting and praying for [Child's name] and
[Parent's names] as they journey together in faith. May we be a source of encouragement and
strength to them, and may we rejoice together in the blessings and victories that God brings into
their lives."
Dedication Prayer:
Pastor: "Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today to dedicate [Child's name] to your
service. We pray that you will bless this child and keep them safe. May they grow in wisdom and
stature, and in favor with God and man. May they be a light in the darkness and a reflection of your
love to those around them.
"We pray that you will guide [Parent's names] as they raise this child, and that they will be filled
with your wisdom and love. May they be examples of your faithfulness and goodness to [Child's
name].
"We dedicate [Child's name] to you today, Lord. May your hand be upon them, and may they be a
blessing to your kingdom. May they be a part of the godly offspring that you seek, and may they
bring joy and glory to your name. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen."
Blessing:
Pastor: "May the Lord bless and keep [Child's name]. May His face shine upon them and be
gracious to them. May He lift up His countenance upon them and give them peace. In Jesus' name
we pray, Amen."
