(b) Kites are of Chinese and Tibetan-origin. The Chinese kites were flat and mostly rectangular,
with mythological or legendary figures on them. While the Chinese used kites to ward off evil
spirits, the Tibetans used kites to bring rain. Now, kites are used to measure air pressure,
temperature, humidity, speed and direction of the wind. This use was discovered by Benjamin
Franklin in 1752, who wanted to prove that lightning was caused by electricity. Taking readings has
become easier with the invention of thermography.

   2. On January 4 and 5 the voyagers felt relieved as after the continuous pumping for 36 hours
      the water had nearly been drained out. They had their first meal in almost two days.
      However their respite was short-lived. They faced dangerous situation on January 5 as the
      sea got worse during the night. Fear of death loomed large. They were under a great
      mental stress.
   3. The death of King Tutankhamun put an end to his bloodline. It was a significant historical
      event. Tut's father or grandfather, Amenhotep III, was a strong Pharaoh who ruled for 40
      years. Amenhotep IV, his descendant, had started a bizarre time in Egyptian history.
        Tutankhamen translates to "Amun's Living Image." In ancient Egypt, he was a significant
        god. The images of Amun were broken, and King Amennotep's temples were closed. Tut
        was in charge of restoring the traditional ways of doing things. In order to reflect his faith
        in Amun, he changed his name.
        He relocated the religious capital from Thebes to Amarna, a new city in Akhetaten. He
        went after God Amun, destroying his temples and idols.
   4. . The narrator found herself in the midst of things she was familiar with and which she did
      want to see again. However, she found them in a strange atmosphere where everything
      was arranged in a tasteless way. They ugly furniture and the muggy smell created the
      feeling that she didn’t know the room.

   1.    Mourad was the natural inheritor of the crazy streak of Garoghlanian family and stealing a
        horse did not bother him at all. He was having a passion for riding and had a way with a
        horse ‘. Mourad went against the much respected value of the Garoghlanians i.e. their
        honesty. Since, they lid not have any money at all, even for food hence , they could not
        afford a horse. That is why, Mourad resortéd to stealing the beautiful white horse of the
        farmer John Byro. He even invited his cousin Aram to ride the horse with him. He had been
        riding the horse for a month alone and then, with Aram, he rode it for another two weeks.
        But, when Aram told Mourad how troubled John Byro was without his horse and when
        they accidentally met John Byro on the way and he did not suspect him of stealing his
       horse. The two boys realised their mistake and returned the horse. as they did not want to
       defame the reputation of their family for its honesty and trust.
   2.The narrator went to the house of the lady
     who had promised to keep the valuable items
     of her mother safe during the war . The
     address given by her mother helped the girl
     in finding out the house but when she saw
     the tasteless manner in which her belongings
     were arranged she wanted to forget the
     address and leave the house as she could not
     connect herself with her belongings. They
     had lost all their emotional value for the
     narrator. She now lived in a small rented
     room where there was no place to keep all
     those things. That was why she wanted to
     forget the address.
