Kermit The Frog Dissection

The document is a frog dissection lab report that includes questions about the anatomy of a frog and descriptions of frog digestion and lifestyle. It lists the names of frog organs like the mesentery, gall bladder, and lobes of the liver. It also describes how frogs use their teeth to grasp food, the multi-step digestion process, and how frogs use fat bodies for energy storage during hibernation. Additional details explain how frogs use their powerful hind legs for swimming and jumping to catch prey and escape predators, and why frogs are better adapted to lay eggs in water.

The Food will start through the mouth then enters the esophagus then down to the stomach where the food is breaking down using its muscle layers then continues down in the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed. The waste is then passed to the large intestine where it exits through the anus. 19. The function of the frogs fat bodies serves as energy reserves during hibernation, the frog is unable to find food so it uses all its body fat as energy, by the end of hibernation the frog will not have any fat left. 20. The powerful hind legs will enable the frog to leap on land. In water, the legs are used for swimming. The legs are one of the only defence that the frog has, they are able to swim and jump quickly away to avoid enemy. 21. Frogs are fit for water more than land because it is easier to lay eggs in water. Laying eggs in land will just make the eggs dry and will die and when it enters the larval stage where it turns into a tadpole, it must be in water because they do not have any legs and cannot survive on land. The large numbers of eggs that are laid in water make it possible for some eggs to survive.
