INTERNSHIP GUIDELINES
B.COM/BBA-2023
Each candidate should undertake a project work immediately after the 5th-semester
examination and submit a bound copy of the report within two weeks of the commencement
of the 6th Semester. This project, under the guidance of a faculty of the institution, has to be
on a live management problem/issue concerning either an organization or otherwise including
open topic the purpose of the project is to develop larger life skills and positive attitudes
among students who have to have a wider perspective on society/organization. This could
involve a desk study/data analysis/extension work or exploration of an idea or its
implementation. In other words, a management student is expected to enrich with
competency/skills/attitudes, and perspectives about live society and organization.
The duration of the project is 3 weeks after the completion of the 5th Semester and before the
commencement of the 6th semester. There will be 50 marks for the project report and 50
marks for viva-voce. A minimum of 50 marks out of 100 is required for a pass in the project
work. The viva and the project report will be evaluated by a member of the panel of
examiners and the concerned faculty guide. Specific guidelines for the same are given below.
1. OBJECTIVES
Internships are educational and career development opportunities, providing practical
experience in a field or discipline. They are structured, short-term, supervised placements
often focused on particular tasks or projects with defined timescales. An internship may be
compensated, non-compensated or some time may be paid. The internship has to be
meaningful and mutually beneficial to the intern and the organization.
2. WHY INTERNSHIP?
Internships allow students to gain work experience in their chosen field and develop
professional skills.
3. THE MAIN PURPOSE
Aside from documenting the details of the project that you worked on and what you
learned, internship project reports can also be used to demonstrate your skills and abilities
to potential employers in the future. It is mandatory for a student to successfully complete
the internship to be eligible for the Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Management.
5. Students should opt for summer internships in any of the open topics that would provide to
gain ample field knowledge in the relevant field of management such that theoretical
knowledge gained in the class can be applied to solve the practical/ field problem.
6. Students should take a challenging task, maybe a small portion, and apply the knowledge
gained to solve it. A summer internship can also involve data collection from different
sources, including generating experimental data, collecting data from the field, etc. Later on,
the student is required to analyze the data collected and arrive at meaningful conclusions (if
any).
7. Students should devote full 3 weeks to a summer internship. Summer internships shall be
aimed at solving some of the problems of the society/ local region that should have practical
applications and benefit society.
8. STUDENT’S DIARY/ DAILY LOG: The main purpose of writing a daily diary is to
cultivate the habit of documenting and to encourage the students to search for details. It
develops the student’s thought processes and reasoning abilities. The students should record
in the daily training diary the day-to-day account of the observations, impressions,
information gathered, and suggestions given if any.
9. Students need to submit 3 weekly progress reports which are duly signed by the guide and
student in the following format.
10.The project report must not be less than 30 pages with 12pt Times News Roman font with
a line spacing of 1.5. One softbound (hard copy) have to be submitted to Bangalore City
University. While preparing the final reports kindly keep the following points in
consideration:
1) Number all your pages
2) Do not include copied content
3) All tables should be numbered
4) Add citations to support your claims
5) Share what you’ve learned during your internship process
6) Describe the challenges you’ve faced and how you overcome them
7) Highlight your accomplishments
8) Make sure your writing, ideas, and concepts for your report are
coherent
9) Your report shall not be less than 30 pages)
The report format is furnished and the report must be in spiral bound (front sheet
should be in white color and with black ink words)

managerial implications. Your conclusion should be one paragraph. The
transition from discussing work responsibilities to results.
