6. Previous work experience
• Project Researcher – Secure Mobility: SMUG Project, University of Jyväskylä,
Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, January 2021 – July 2022.
Temporary, full time project researcher in the European Commission (EASI) funded
project – Secure Mobility: Uncovering Gaps in the Social Protection of Posted
Workers (SMUG) – coordinated at the university of Jyväskylä.
Role:
▪ Participated in grant proposal writing as our team (Professor Nathan Lilie and me)
was both the principal investigator and coordinating partner
▪ Coordinated project activities of 6 consortium partner teams based in 6 countries
– Austria, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Poland, and Slovenia
▪ Organised, hosted, and led the monthly routine project meetings
▪ Co-organised a transnational stakeholder workshop with the European Centre for
Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna; and a policy oriented international
conference collaboratively with the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in
Brussels – Challenges associated with short-term labour mobility: Third country
nationals, posted workers, seasonal workers, and refugees
▪ Data collection in Finland: Biographical interviews and focus group interviews
▪ Designed the strategy for, and led consortium wide collective data analysis
▪ Co-authored (1st author) the aggregate project report for the European commission
with the PI as first author; co-authored 2 policy briefs for the ETUI, and the
European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research; and co-authored 1
thematic scientific report for ETUI
▪ Administrative tasks: Maintained the project webpage and technical reporting.
▪ Authoring 1 journal article for Transfer (journal) – Abstract accepted
• Project Researcher –SIRIUS Project, University of Jyväskylä, Department of
Philosophy and Social Sciences, January 2020 – July 2021
Temporary, full time project researcher in the Horizon 2020 project; SIRIUS – Skills
and Integration of Migrants, Refugees, and Asylum applicants in European labour
markets. The project aimed to develop an evidence base for migrant integration
policies in the EU. It was implemented in 8 EU countries including Finland.
Role:
▪ Collected data using the biographical interview method for work package 6 and 7
▪ Co-authored a journal article based on work package 7 data
▪ Co-authored a chapter for an edited volume disseminating work package 6 results
▪ Authored 2 scientific reports for the Finnish team, for work packages 6 and 7
▪ Authored 1 blog post to popularise work package 5 results
▪ Co-produced a video summary of state integration services for different migrant
groups in Finland
▪ Co-wrote the theatre play ‘Routes’ with SOLIDAR to popularise project findings

• Lead consultant for a team of project experts in Finland working on the European Union
and Council of Europe joint Project on “Building an inclusive integration approach in
Finland, in collaboration with the ministry of justice Finland and 6 Finnish cities till
September 2024.
Role: Leading a consultancy group of migration and integration experts based in
Finland in assisting six Finnish municipalities to: 1) Conduct their Intercultural City
Index (ICC Index) analysis; 2) draw up and implement strategies, practical tools, and
solutions to reform migrant integration and inclusion in Finland; 3) promote
implementation of local integration strategies which reflect intercultural and the
Finnish good relations principle.
