Model UN simulations follow 5 key stages:
1 、 Research: Students research assigned
topics, countries, and committees
2 、 Debate: Students make speeches to explain
their country’s policy on the topic
3 、 Negotiate: Students meet with one another
to form small groups and work together
4 、 Resolutions: Students write out the
problems they want tosolve and their proposed
solutions

Order
During the discussion of any matter, a delegate may

To ask the chair a question regarding the rules of

To inform the chair of a physical discomfort s/he is
experiencing, such as inability to hear another
delegates speech.
Point of Information
After a delegate has given a speech in formal debate,
s/he may choose to yield his or her time to a point of
information, a question another delegate raises
concerning the speech.
Appeal to the Chair’s
Decision
This motion is made when a delegate feels as if the
chair has made an incorrect decision.
This motion may be made verbally or in writing.
The opposing delegate speaks and the chair defends
his or herself before the vote.
