Geoje Grand Bridge Connecting between the island of Geoje and this nation's inland, the Geoje Bridge have played a role as a driving force of the development of Geoje shipbuilding industry. The old bridge to the left, 740m in length and 10m in width, began to be constructed in May, 1965 and completed in April, 1971. While the new bridge to the right, 940m in length and 20m in width, began to be constructed in October, 1992 and completed in May, 1999.

Gonggoji, a photographing place of the movie Palm Forest is located in Yegu
Sunrise of Sajabawi Sipja Cave Village over Wahyeon Swimming Beach. It is a well-decorated farm. When spring has come, camellia flowers and narcissi come into full bloom. An old couples true heart is included in palm trees cultivated for a long time and a stone wall accumulated by them.

Jisimdo (Dongbaekseom Island)

It is an island taking about 20 minutes after getting on a ferry boat in Jangseungpo Port. Green evergreens and variouscolor trees keep a virgin forest. Specially, it is named Dongbaekseom Island since it has a lot of camellia trees. We can see Daema Island there at a clean day. One green island on indigo sea, it looks like a garden at a home of a wizard and looks like a basin on sea. Woodland paths covering the sky extend here and there and songs of Korean white-eye and brown-eared bulbul meet the ears of lovers passing a tunnel beautifully. Their boiling love comes into red camellia flowers. However, military installations, the remains of Japans colonial rule of Korea, get on national painful wound since they still stay there.

It is a mountain rising on the center of Geojedo. A shape of the summit of the mountain looks like a cockscomb. People name the mountain as Mt. Gyeryong because of an old story that the mountain made Gucheon Valley by letting out a big burp. There are Uisangdae made by Uisang Buddist priest of Shilla age, Burimun Rock, Janggun Rock, Geobuk Rock and Janggipan Rock on the summit of Mt. Gyeryong. Also, there are remains of a signal corps in a P.O.W camp at the time of Korean War.

Hakdong Black Pearl Pebble Beach The beach on black Mongdols as black
[ National Scenic Site #2 ] The original name of the island with high ecological conservation value is Galdo. It was appointed to be national Scenic Site #2 in 1971 since its natural scene is eminent and was registered to be Geoje Haegeumgang. Its shape washed by wave and wind for hundreds of millions of years produces various features. Haegeumgang surrounded by Saja Rock, Mireuk Rock, Chokdae Rock, Sinrang Rock, Sinbu Rock, Hagol Rock and Dokdae Rock is named Yakcho Island because of legend that Chinese people visited it to find an elixir of life for Shih Huang Ti. Manmul Image carved on a vertical cliff and Cross Cave with the same shape as a cross are works of the Creator. The feature of sun rising between Saja Rocks is fantastic.

Geoje Haegeumgang

pearl is the most beautiful beach in South Korea. When clean water of the south coast rolls Mongdols by waving, they have a beautiful sound Jageul Jageul. When we walk with a ground pressure along the coast, the ridge lines of Nojasan and Garasan flutter our heart smoothly. In a colony of wild camellia forest extended before our noses, the call of fairy pitta designated as a precious natural treasure seems to make our ears tickled. In Susan of neighboring village, Beolsingut is still handed down. Rare plants of Nojasan and Garasan are a treasure house of Korean botany.

Beautiful Landscape of Oedo Naedo

Windy Hill Naedo and Oedo located in the east marine of Ilunmyeon is beautiful as much as a sailing boat on a lake. An island located in the inside is Naedo and an island located in the outside is Oedo. Naedo is a beautiful island where evergreen forest and marine rocks are well-harmonized. It is named Geobuk Island since it has a shape which a turtle is drifting toward Oedo when we see it in the lighthouse of Seoyimal. Oedo is the field of human victory. A lot of kinds of subtropical plants are wellharmonized with natural camellia forest, which makes a grand sight. Fantastic rocks and stones have various shapes, which also makes a grand sight. This island has a high scientific value since footprints of dinosaurs were discovered in this island.

Beautiful Landscape of Yeocha-Hongpo Beach

The feature of islands gathering under Mangsan is an Oriental painting expressing feature of Geoje residents living together with their neighbors. Looking at it on my way of walking its coast road, it is changed to various Oriental paintings with other compositions. When we arrive at it at dusk, it makes us forget all worldly affairs. All its landscapes are very beautiful. If we climb Mangsan making climbers breath hard, we can see Hanryeosudo at a glance and landscape of Dadohae surrounded by sea fog makes our heart fluttered. The fantastic sunset going down among various islands grasp our steps to come down from Mangsan. Mongdol Beach of Yeocha Gulf under the steep mountain gives us sound of nature whenever waves are rolling in and back across the beach. And it pretends ignorance. Natural brown seaweed growing up with sound of the nature is special products of this region extended in length.

When we come down to the north at a corner going to Haegeumgang after passing Hammok, we can see a fishing village Dojangpo like a picture and can see Windy Hill as a watercolor when we raise our head. When we stand by an observatory in the south of a road after going up the hill, there is where we become a wizard who looks out over sea. Its name is Sinseondae. Windy Hill is a hill covered by belts. Thus, its old name was Ttibatneul. It is where sea wind always meets visitors since there is long extended clean sea area around there. It makes a wonderful view with blue sea, guls, Hakdong Black Pearl Mongdol Beach and Susan Village from a distance. It also comes to the spotlight as a drama photographing place since sea is well-harmonized with the hill. In Sinseondae, we can look out over see. It has a shape playing a wizard game with harmonious landscapes around it since a large rock secures its position on the seashore. We can look out over Dapodo, Cheonjangsan, Osaek Rock and Dadohae. There is a small Mongdol Swimming Beach at the lower edge, which makes its landscape more tasteful.

Okpo Great Victory Commemorative Park This is a Shipbuilding Theme Museum Geoje-si, nations largest Historic Park of Geojedo P.O.W. Camp
Established in November 1950 following the outbreak of the Korean War on June 25, 1950, the Geoje P.O.W. Camp accommodated total 170,000 prisoners of the war who consisted of 150,000 North Korean and 20,000 Chinese P.O.Ws. Now on the site of the camp, the Historic Park of Geojedo P.O.W. Camp has been formed,which is reviving lives by the prisoners with materials and records about the war based. The park also becomes a place of war history education and is highly reputed as one of the worlds famous tourist places. shipbuilding industrial complex, has pushed Shipbuilding Theme Museum project to summarize history of shipbuilding industry which has been the motive power for development of heavy industrial since 1970s, making it as a tourism resource. Once Shipbuilding Theme Park is completed, it will play a role as the new dimensional cultural place by helping people to understand and become more familiar with difficult ship building process and applied high technology. place where General Chungmugong Lee Soon Sin got a first victory during Japanese invasion to Chosun, Imjinwaeran. The first victory made the naval forces of Chosun very confident and continue to win marine battles with the invader, further leading to the end of the Japan-Korea War. The place is more significant in Korean history than any others in that it is where the very spirit of the defense of the fatherland is deeply dwelled.

Geoje Museum, in the town of Okpo(Okpo-dong), exhibits the remnants of the various geological eras, such as dolmens, BronzeAge stone-plate graves, and bone-material cremation pots. The museum also displays Goryeo Dynasty and Sinra Dynasty artifacts that were excavated from Osong-ri.

Village Folk Museum is a place where you can directly experience the wonderful sea of Geoje. The museum includes an aquarium showing numerous kinds of fish and 'Simulator' guiding you to the world of illusion. 'Section of Learning and Experiencing Making' & 'Institute of Korean Traditional Ships Research' At this place that overlooks Gyeonnaeryang, one of the hard-fought fields of the Korea-Japan War, that is, Imjinwaeran, children can raise their creativity through feeling the wisdom of ancestors, playing joyfully and experiencing a variety of making.

Nongso Pebble Beach

Geojedo's largest beach, the Nongso Beach, is located at Gangok, Jangmok-myeon. The beach consists of pebbles similar in appearance to bird eggs. For this reason the beach is a better place of hot massage using the pebbles and swimming.

Between Gujora and Jisepo, Wahyeon sand beach provides summer scenes harmonizing with a fishing village. The beach has fine sand and clear water, encompassing the small fishing village warmly and softly.

Geoje Natural Forest of Recreation

The Geoje Natural Forest of Recreation is located at the foot of majestic Mt. Noja. The peaks of the range adorning Nojasan rise from between 150 and 565 meters above from the sea level. The woods offer a widerange of camping facility styles : modern cottages, camping bungalows, and a tent site. In addition, resting families can enjoy a completely equipped public performance hall.

Waters flow through valleys into the falls which in turn forms Mundong Reservoir, presenting a burgeoning spring and a green summer.

Gujora Beach The sand at the Hakdong Black Pearl Pebble Beach Geoje Folk Museum
The Municipal Folk Museum accommodates and exhibits some 5,500 units of works including farming tools, folk arts, and paintings and writings. Hakdong pebble Beach has black pearl color and clean water, providing a heavenly gifted scenery. Along the beach, you can enjoy a maritime tour of Haegeumgang, Oedo and Yundolseom by a excursion ship. Gujora Beach is well-known for its softness. The warm temperature of the water makes Gujora a pleasant place for swimming.

Located at Hadeok Village, Deokpo-ri, Okpo-dong, Geoje, Deokpo Beach, 450m in length, takes pride in fine sands and clean water. Because it is smoothly inclined, the beach is much loved by families.
