Giải thích công thức chung:

1. Câu khẳng định:
o S + said (that) + S' + V (quá khứ): S là chủ ngữ câu tường thuật, S' là chủ ngữ
trong câu trực tiếp, và động từ trong câu tường thuật sẽ chuyển sang thì quá
khứ.
2. Câu hỏi Yes/No:
o S + asked if/whether + S' + V (quá khứ): Thay "do/does/did" bằng thì quá khứ
tương ứng và dùng "if" hoặc "whether" để nối câu hỏi.
 3. Câu hỏi Wh-:
o S + asked + Wh-word + S' + V (quá khứ): Câu hỏi với từ để hỏi giữ nguyên từ để
hỏi (what, where, when, etc.) và động từ chuyển sang thì quá khứ.
4. Câu mệnh lệnh:
o S + told + O + to + V (nguyên mẫu): Đối với mệnh lệnh, dùng "told" hoặc "asked"
và theo sau là đối tượng (O) cùng động từ nguyên mẫu.
5. Câu tường thuật với thời gian:
o S + said (that) + S' + V (quá khứ) + time expression: Các từ chỉ thời gian sẽ thay
đổi theo ngữ cảnh, như "tomorrow" → "next day," "yesterday" → "the day
before."
