U-JOINTS WITH 4 GROOVED ROUND BEARINGS

First, measure the outside diameters of two adjacent bearings to see if they are the same or different. Locate
the diameter(s) in the first column using the smaller diameter first if the bearings are of two sizes. Second,
remove the seals from two bearings opposite each other and re-install the bearings on the cross. Measure the
distance from the inside edge of the lock ring groove on one bearing across the joint to the same point on the
opposite bearing and write it down. See drawing above. Next measure the thickness of two lock rings together.
Add this measurement to the first measurement and the total should be slightly less than the “installed” or
yoke span dimension shown in the second column. If necessary, note the type and location of any lube fittings.
