SUBJECT: NAV-O-MATIC OPERATIONAL AND SERVICING INFORMATION
MODELS AFFECTED: MODELS 172 - 175 - 180 - 182 - 185 - 210
The following information which pertains to operating and servicing the Cessna
Nav-O-Matic is being enclosed for your service use.
1) NEW NAV-O-MATIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
This pamphlet is a supplement to the single engine Owner Manuals and has
been revised to include additional information on use of the Nav-O-Matic
"Trim" knob and a Pre-Flight Ground Check. Additional no charge copies
may be obtained from the Cessna Parts Department, Part Number D-128A-13.
2) REVISION TO NAV-O-MATIC PRELIMINARY MAINTENANCE AND PARTS MANUAL
Revised pages to the Maintenance Manual are enclosed which include infor-
mation on the basic operational checks that can be made when servicing
and trouble shooting the Cessna Nav-O-Matic. Two methods for conducting
an operational check on the Cessna Nav-O-Matic are given. One with, and
one without, a portable test meter. The checks with the portable test
meter is preferred, since service experience has shown that in-flight
adjustments can be made more accurately, thus assuring more satisfactory
operation of the autopilot. Specifications on the test meter are pro-
vided - this is a meter commonly used in radio departments, and therefore
will not be offered through the Cessna Parts Department. Specifications
for the test harness are also provided - this is available from the Cessna
Parts Department under Part #10004-104, and is priced $7.92 Net.
To insure that owners obtain satisfactory operation from their Nav-O-Matics, it is
important that they be made aware of the operating techniques as outlined in the
enclosed Owner Manual Supplement. It is equally important that personnel servicing
Nav-O-Matics obtain the portable test meter and harness, and use the operational
checks as outlined in the enclosed information.
Listed below are the Accessory Kits on the Nav-O-Matic which are available from the
Cessna Parts Department for making field installations. These kits apply only to the
1962 models. Two (2) kits are required to make an installation - one panel or deck
mounted kit, and one basic components kit.
