1.

Is it sustainable to think that Emiratis, which make up only about 15 percent of the people
in Dubai, can be leading the city as they have been for so long?

Due to Dubai's continuous economic and financial expansion, there is a high probability that
the number of expatriates will rise soon. This is because more and more desirable job
positions with appealing perks are becoming accessible, creating a profitable prospect that is
difficult to ignore. Additionally, The Emirates Group is a large organization that excels as a
global enterprise and boasts a diverse and talented workforce from all over the world,
making it an attractive employer. With the increasing diversity in Dubai's population, it is
likely that there will be a push for greater representation and inclusion in leadership
positions. Ultimately, a diverse and inclusive leadership will be better equipped to address
the needs and concerns of all residents and ensure the long-term sustainability of the city.

2. Integrating 160 different nationalities into one corporation, such as The Emirates Group,
has challenges and opportunities. What challenges do you see? What opportunities come
from this diverse workforce?

Workforce diversity refers to the variety of differences between employees in a workplace,

such as differences in race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, and more. Having a diverse
workforce can bring many advantages to a company, but it also presents some challenges
that need to be addressed.

Opportunities of Workforce Diversity:

● Improved creativity and innovation: A diverse workforce can bring a range of

perspectives and ideas to the table, leading to more creative and innovative solutions
to problems.
● Better decision-making: A diverse group of employees is more likely to consider a
wider range of viewpoints and make better decisions as a result.
● Increased market appeal: A diverse workforce can help a company appeal to a
broader range of customers and markets.
● Improved employee morale and job satisfaction: A workplace that values and
respects diversity can lead to improved morale and job satisfaction among
employees.
● Enhanced ability to recruit and retain top talent: A company that values diversity is
more likely to attract and retain top talent, regardless of their background.

Challenges of Workforce Diversity:

- Communication difficulties: Communication can be a challenge in a diverse

workplace, particularly when employees come from different cultural background

3. If I lived in a city like Dubai, I would likely strive for a balance between assimilation and
integration:

● Assimilation: Connecting with people who share similar cultural or national

backgrounds can provide a sense of community and support.
● Integration: Engaging with the broader community fosters a richer cultural experience
and understanding, contributing to a more inclusive environment. Balancing both
approaches can enhance personal growth and contribute positively to the city's
diverse social fabric.

4. It is plausible that expatriates will continue to stay longer in Dubai as the city develops
further. Factors influencing this trend include:
● Improved Living Conditions: Enhancements in quality of life, including housing,
healthcare, and amenities, can make long-term stays more appealing.
● Career Opportunities: Growing career prospects and professional development
opportunities in Dubai can encourage expatriates to remain.
● Cultural Integration: Efforts to improve cultural integration and support systems for
expatriates may contribute to longer stays. As Dubai continues to evolve into a world-
class location, these factors could indeed lead to an increase in the duration of
expatriates' stays.
