Adjectives of Number: “Adjectives which state the number of persons or things is called the

Adjectives of Number or Numeral Adjectives.” It shows the exact number of nouns or pronouns

with their position or place. It is used with the ‘Countable Nouns’.

Adjectives of Number answers the question, ‘How many?’

There are three kinds of Numeral Adjectives-

1. Definite Numeral Adjectives


2. Indefinite Numeral Adjectives
3. Distributive Numeral Adjectives

1. Definite Numeral Adjectives – They are those which indicate an exact number.

Eg: one, two, three etc. – Cardinal, first, third, last etc. – Ordinal

➢ At present, there are seven students in the classroom.

➢ Saturday is the last day of the week.

2. Indefinite Numeral Adjectives – They are those which do not indicate an exact
number or quantity.

Eg: few, most, no, many, all, some etc.

➢ I bought some candies for my niece.

➢ Most of the students participated in the social rally.
