Kevin De Bruyne
Overview
Kevin De Bruyne or KDB for short is a Belgian midfielder who plays for Manchester City as a
CAM (Central Attacking Midfielder). He is the playmaker and assist provider at Manchester City.
He likes to assist the team, more than scoring goals.
Playstyle and specialties
De Bruyne is great at reading space and giving precise assists to his teammates especially to
speedy players like Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker, etc. For them to score goals.
One of his exceptional abilities is to lure opponents out of their position to breach the defense to
create more space for his teammates so he can play a deadly ball to them. Another one of his
specialties is that he can give deep and risky passes through the opposing defense so it’s an
easy goal for his teammate. Even though he is such a good playmaker don’t mistake him for a
lousy shooter. He can score goals from outside the box, from the left-wing, from the right-wing,
and he can also score freekicks. That is why he is the freekick taker of Manchester City.
Roberto Firmino
Overview
Roberto Firmino is a Brazilian CF(Center Forward) who plays for Liverpool. His role at Liverpool
is not scoring goals even though he is a striker his role is to assist mane and salah to score
goals.
Playstyle and specialties
Firmino takes the ball from down the pitch and starts the Liverpool attack. If someone manages
to get the ball from him, they shouldn’t think the ball is safe with them. If Firmino gets the ball
taken from him he will immediately press on the player till the ball is with his team. Due to his
high work-rate, he runs all around the pitch giving assists, scoring goals, and also defending.
Yeah, he does that. Jurgen Klopp recently said if Firmino is in good form, we wouldn’t have to
defend.
Conclusion
Roberto Firmino is a very underrated player. The reason being, that despite being the Center
Forward of the team, he doesn’t score too many goals. But, he isn’t a goalscorer or an assist
provider, or anything else. He is an all-rounder. He does everything.
Thomas Muller
Overview
Thomas Muller is a German CAM(Central Attacking Midfielder) who plays for Bayern Munich.
He is so good at interpreting space to provide assists, that he is called the Raumdeuter or space
interpreter in English.
Playstyle and specialties
Muller, likes to make curved and squiggly runs so that he is not behind the defense before the
pass is released. Hence avoiding being offside. His passes are insane too. If you are lucky
enough to get a muller pass, the goal is way easier. Muller’s favorite pass receiver is Robert
Lewandowski. With Muller’s assists and Lewandowski’s finishing, Bayern has become
invincible. Even though Thomas Muller is an assist provider he also scores goals. At the age of
30, Muller scored 14 goals and provided 26 assists when Bayern won the champions league.
Kai Havertz
Overview
Kai Havertz, Chelsea’s new signing is A German CAM(Central Attacking Midfielder). At the age
of just 21, he strikes fear in the hearts of opposing defenders. His vision, dribbling, and shooting
make him, a wonderkid. With the potential to be the greatest midfielder of all time.
Playstyle and specialties
Kai Havertz is brilliant at reading space and supplying the ball to his quick teammates from the
center. But mostly he cuts on the right-wing and supplies crosses from there just as this heat
map suggests:
But if you think that covering his teammates would stop him, you are sadly mistaken. He will just
take that open space left by your defenders and take the opportunity to score a nice goal.
Marcus Rashford
Overview
Marcus Rashford is an English LW(Left Winger), who plays for Manchester united. Rashford,
alongside the other English wonderkids like Jadon Sancho, Trent Alexander Arnold, Phil Foden,
Mason Greenwood, etc. Is a new hope for the English side to win a World Cup. After being
robbed 5 times of it. He has also been given the title of MBE.
Playstyle and specialties
Marcus Rashford uses his lightning speed to leave opponents in the dust without even having to
do 1 skill move. Another thing that he uses is getting on his opponent’s blindside, which is the
back, so the opponent can’t see him hence clearing up the extra space.
Christian Pulisic
Overview
Christian Pulisic is an American LW(Left Wing), who plays for Chelsea. His lightning speed and
great skill is the reason for him to be in the starting XI at a club like Chelsea at the age of 21.
Playstyle and specialties
Although Christian Pulisic is a Winger, he likes to run into the center of the pitch to get more
goalscoring chances. He works especially well when there is a high defensive line(A defensive
line that goes higher up the pitch to press). Because then he has a chance to be nonmarked
high up the pitch.
Bruno Fernandes
Overview
Bruno Fernandes is a Portuguese CAM(Central Attacking Midfielder) who plays for Manchester
United. His passes and crosses are epic and his shots too.
Playstyle and specialties
Bruno Fernandes is great at luring the center backs toward him and then giving the pass to the
striker, so he has a one on one. If the defender doesn’t get lured into the trap, he will give the
pass to the striker, and run to get a through ball and then ultimately a goal. Sometimes he even
likes to shoot from outside the box so that he doesn’t have to dribble past the defenders.
Fun Facts
1. Bruno Fernandes started in a club called sporting and then moved to Manchester United
just like Cristiano Ronaldo who then moved to Real Madrid and Juventus.
2. Bruno, like any other sports player, also has a myth, or lucky number, or whatever you
want to call it which is... The number 8. He also has the number eight tattooed on his
right arm.
