EXPEDITOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Order Processing & Coordination
• Monitor purchase orders and ensure timely fulfillment.
• Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to track order status.
• Expedite urgent orders by prioritizing critical shipments.
2. Logistics & Supply Chain Management
• Coordinate transportation and delivery schedules.
• Ensure compliance with shipping and receiving protocols.
• Resolve any shipping or delivery discrepancies.
• Identify inefficiencies in supply chain and logistics.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Address and resolve unexpected supply chain issues quickly.
3. Inventory & Materials Management
• Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages.
• Ensure timely replenishment of materials and supplies.
• Work with warehouse teams to optimize inventory flow.
4. Communication & Vendor Relations
• Act as a liaison between suppliers and procurement departments.
• Negotiate with vendors to accelerate delivery timelines.
• Address supplier delays and find alternative solutions when needed.
5. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of orders, shipments, and delays.
• Prepare and submit reports on procurement and delivery timelines.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
6. Shipment Coordination
• Track and monitor import/export shipments to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
• Expedite urgent shipments and resolve delays.
7. Documentation & Compliance
• Prepare and verify shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Packing Lists, Invoices, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.
• Handle export/import permits, licenses, and certificates of origin.
8. Customs Clearance & Regulatory Compliance
• Work with shipping companies to ensure smooth clearance.
• Address any issues related to tariffs, duties, and trade restrictions.
• Keep updated with changes in international trade laws and customs regulations.
9. Freight & Logistics Management
• Select and manage transport modes (air, sea, road, rail) based on cost and efficiency.
• Optimize shipping routes and consolidation of goods.
• Resolve freight discrepancies and damage claims.
10. Cost & Inventory Control
• Monitor shipping costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Track inventory movement to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Work with finance teams on duty payments and freight charges.
11. Reporting & Process Improvement
• Maintain accurate shipment records.
• Generate reports on shipment status, customs issues, and costs.
