My house is very close to the music school - it only takes five minutes to walk there! My teacher says
I’m doing well, and maybe next year I can perform in a concert. My parents gave me a beautiful guitar
for my birthday last year. After practice, I sometimes buy a sandwich from the café next to the music
school before going home.
Luis I’ve always loved swimming. I started having lessons at the local pool when I was four. The
swimming center is quite far from my home - my dad drives me there twice every week. The

Questions 30-34
Read the text and questions below. For each question, circle the correct letter A, B or C.
Interview with Sam Wilson, Artist by Emma Jones, aged 10
Can you tell me about your art classes? Yes, I teach painting at the community center. When I
started five years ago, only 8 students attended. Then it grew to 15, and now I have 25 people in my
class.
How did you learn to paint? Well, my school offered art classes after school, but I didn’t take them. I
wasn’t interested in art then. Later, at university, my roommate was an amazing artist. She showed me
how to mix colors and create different effects. My parents can’t draw at all, so they were very
surprised when I became an artist!
Where was your first job? I thought about working in an art gallery, but I decided to become a
teacher instead. I started working at a primary school, teaching young children how to paint and draw.
That’s where I learned how to explain art techniques in simple ways.
Which type of art do you like creating most? At home, I like making simple sketches of nature. I
also use a lot of bright colors in my landscape paintings - that’s what I enjoy most. My daughter is
excellent at drawing animals, much better than me!
What would you like to do next? Many artists want to have their work displayed in famous galleries.
But I’d rather write a book to help children learn art techniques. I already have a website with some
lessons, and many children use it - that makes me happy!
30. How many students does Sam teach now?
