STATEMENT OF WITNESS – MRS.

RITA

Name: Mrs. Rita

Age: 87 years
Address: No. 293/4, Ashoknagar, Hanumanthanagar, Bengaluru – 560019
Relationship to the Accused: Mother of Jackson
Occupation: Retired homemaker
Physical condition: Wheelchair-bound due to old age and limited mobility

I, Mrs. Rita, aged 87 years, residing with my son Jackson and his family at the above
address, make the following statement voluntarily and without any coercion:

On the evening of 1st July 2024, around 8:00 PM, I was present at home, seated in my
wheelchair in the hall. My son Jackson had just returned from work and was speaking
with his wife in the adjacent room. Suddenly, there was loud knocking on the main
door, and before Jackson could properly answer, five men forcefully entered our
house. One of them was Robert, who I recognised as a watchman at my son’s factory.
The others were known faces from the factory as well — Ramesh, Chetan, Ratan, and
Pratap.

They barged in and began shouting at my son, demanding money. The conversation
quickly escalated. Robert in particular appeared very angry and aggressive. I saw him
shouting and banging the table. Despite Jackson trying to calm them down, Robert
picked up a knife that was lying on the dining table and began threatening my son.

Soon after, Jackson’s wife entered the room with their child, and I saw Robert turn
towards the child with the knife raised, shouting words to the effect of, "If you don’t
give the money now, I’ll kill!" I was horrified. In that moment, two of the other men
held Jackson’s wife and tied her and the child to a chair with a rope, right in front
of my eyes.

Jackson panicked — like any father and husband would. I saw him struggle with
Robert, snatch the knife, and in that same moment, stab him once in the chest. It all
happened within a few seconds. There was no plan or intention. He was clearly
reacting out of fear for the lives of his wife and child, both of whom were visibly
injured and in shock.

I swear on my years and conscience, Jackson did not attack first. He did not provoke
anyone. He acted only when his family’s life was under threat and there was no one
else to help. I was right there, helpless, watching it all. If Jackson hadn’t acted when he
did, I fear all three of us — his wife, child, and myself — could have been seriously
harmed or worse.
This statement is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.
I am willing to depose before the Hon’ble Court as a witness.

STATEMENT OF WITNESS – SHRUTHI

Name: Shruthi
Age: 42 years
Occupation: House help and personal caretaker to Mrs. Rita (mother of the accused)
Address: [To be inserted], residing at employer’s premises – No. 293/4, Ashoknagar,
Hanumanthanagar, Bengaluru – 560019
Relationship to the Accused: Domestic worker in Jackson’s household

I, Shruthi, aged 42 years, make the following statement voluntarily, based on what I
witnessed on the evening of 1st July 2024 while serving as house help and caretaker to
Mrs. Rita, the mother of Jackson.

That day, around 8:00 PM, I was present inside the house along with Mrs. Rita, who is
87 years old and wheelchair-bound. We were in the living room when we heard
aggressive shouting at the main entrance. Before Mr. Jackson could properly respond,
five men entered the house without invitation. One of them was Robert, a watchman
from Jackson’s factory, and the others were co-workers known to me.

The men were loud, agitated, and began accusing Jackson of refusing salary advances.
Robert was extremely aggressive. I saw him pick up a kitchen knife from the dining
table and start yelling threats at Jackson. Soon, Jackson’s wife and young child came
into the room, visibly anxious. Robert then turned toward them, holding the knife in a
raised hand, and shouted threateningly at the child, saying things like "You don’t give
me the money, your family will pay!"

Things got worse when two of the other men physically tied up Jackson’s wife and
child to a chair using ropes from the kitchen rack, while Robert continued waving
the knife.

Jackson was stunned. I saw him attempt to stop Robert, grab the knife, and in the
struggle, stab Robert once in the chest. There was blood, and Robert fell immediately.
The others fled.
There was no provocation from Jackson, nor was the act planned. He was trying to
protect his wife and child, who were both crying and injured. I later helped untie them
and called for help. His mother, Mrs. Rita, was watching the entire incident helplessly
from her wheelchair.

As someone who works in the house and has no personal interest, I say with truth and
responsibility: Jackson acted in the defence of his family, who were under a real and
immediate threat. The knife was first picked up by Robert. Jackson only acted when
there was no other option.

This statement is true to my knowledge and belief. I am willing to depose before

the Hon’ble Court.
