User Guide
1. Getting Started: Welcome to Office 365
This document serves as a user guide specifically for the students of the
Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL). The instructions and content
stated in this document have been customized to work with/on any platforms
or devices that are used by this university. All students are entitled to a
Microsoft Office 365 account. The official communications to students are sent
to University email accounts (Office 365 – Outlook).
What is Microsoft Office365?
Microsoft Office365 is an ONLINE-ONLY account that is available to all currently
enrolled students and currently employed faculty of the University. It offers
services which include email and browser-accessible Office applications.
With Microsoft Office365, you can enjoy the following perks:
• Sharepoint Online feature allows you to collaborate with your colleagues,
as you can access internal sites, documents, and other information from
school, at home, or from a mobile device.
• Storage: One terabyte (1TB) OneDrive storage is given per account.
• ONLY STUDENTS and FACULTY members can download licensed Microsoft
Office software, and Power BI (Business Intelligence) software.
• The fully installed applications include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, InfoPath and Access.

2. Signing into Office 365 Portal
Launch Internet browser (Explorer/Mozilla Firefox/Chrome)
i. In the Address field, enter the URL https://www.office.com or
http://portal.office.com will redirect you to the right URL. Click “Sign in” button to
proceed.
ii. Enter your username for Office 365. Your username will be similar to your email address
in the form of :
• Username: Your student email address
• StudentID@s.iukl.edu.my
Example: 194337237@s.iukl.edu.my

iii. Another sign-in screen will appear. This one will ask for your password.
For example:
• Password: The default password for first time login is “Iukl123456”.
(capital i for Iukl)
• Click “Sign in” button to proceed.
• If you do not know your password, please email: iuklictcentre@iukl.edu.my to
have your password reset.

iv. The system will prompt you to change your password during your first login immediately
after the successful login

v. After Password changed, students will be redirected to another webpage that ask for
more information required. Click “Next” button to proceed.

vi. To make sure you can reset your password, Office 365 need to collect some info so that
Office 365 can verify who you are. Please set up or verify your phone no and email
address. Click Finish Button

vii. After information updated, students will be redirected to the main interface of the office
365 portal as follows:

Student Email – Office 365 – Outlook Web App
IUKL Student Webmail service transition to Office 365 for education has begun on 7th April 2021. All
students are entitled to a University email account. The official communications to students are sent
to University email accounts. You can now explore all the features that Outlook Web App has to offer.
This is a great alternative to using the Desktop version of Outlook, and you can access your email from
any computer from anywhere there is an internet connection
3. Access to Student Email (Outlook)
i. Click on the icon to Outlook, located in the left-hand side of the web page.
ii. You will now be in Outlook Web App. Your email should already be populated.

iii. You can also sign in to your office 365 outlook web app via lms portal -

4. Joining a Microsoft Teams from a Web Browser
i. Click on the icon to Teams, located in the left-hand side of the web page.
ii. You will now be in Teams Web App. Within one window, users can call upon a
variety of key Office 365 apps and tools to help them work more effectively, such as:
• Calendars and meetings (Outlook)
• Create, share, edit and find content (SharePoint, OneDrive and OneNote)
• Call and meet team members (Skype)
• Chat and instant messaging (Skype)
