Title: Exploring the experiences of English studies students with PBL approach at

FPT University Danang.

Based on the findings, it can be affirmed that the PBL approach has brought
numerous positive learning experiences for English-majored students at FPT University
Danang, particularly in the ELT and EXE courses. PBL not only promotes the sufficient
growth of critical thinking, teamwork, time management, and communication skills but
also motivates students to be proactive in learning and applying it to practical situations.
Projects have helped students to integrate theory into practice, hence allowing them to
participate in a genuine learning environment obviously shown by the entrepreneurial
success of many students after the EXE courses. In addition, the cooperation and
feedback of teachers were highlighted as sustainable factors that contributed to the
success of the PBL approach. The use of AI tools also highlighted the potential of
technology in enhancing project implementation.
However, the research expressed some difficulties students had, mostly resulting
from variations in academic background among interdisciplinary group members and
restrictions in obtaining in-depth knowledge beyond the English-majored students. These
obstacles were the witness to show that PBL should be implemented flexibly based on the
specific characteristics of the majors to maximize its capability in the context of higher
education. In both contexts, students reported frequent use of AI tools like ChatGPT and
Gemini to fill knowledge gaps and optimize their work, but some students warned that
relying on AI reduced their ability to think critically and creatively.
Furthermore, this study highlighted that to maximize the effectiveness of the PBL
approach for English-majored students, it is necessary to integrate active communication,
successful teamwork, and the appropriate use of AI technology. Students recommended
continuing group member communication while allocating work based on skills and
establishing defined targets to boost teamwork. Students confirm that artificial
intelligence tools help research and boost work productivity yet they understand that
these tools require careful selection. These strategies enable students to access the
advantages of PBL and improve their academic skills concurrently.
