1. Press the mirror glass inward on the outside to create a gap between the mirror glass and the housing on the
vehicle's outside. This allows the mirror glass to be carefully pried out with the plastic wedge. Don’t forget to
disconnect the two cables for the mirror heating.
2. Press down the exposed clips of the mirror cap and pull the cap backward. If present, disconnect the LED
connector on the mirror cap.
3. After removing the mirror cap, loosen the two screws of the front frame and remove the frame. The frame is
additionally clipped in at the top.
4. Optionally, remove the turn signal light to create more space. Simply loosen the two screws, disconnect the
connector, and remove the turn signal light.
5. Then, loosen the lower frame to which the entry light is attached and rotate it backward. It is secured with
three retaining clips.
6. Disconnect the connector from the entry light. Then, loosen the two screws of the old entry lights and
remove the lights.
7. Install in reverse order.

1. Fully lower the window by holding down the corresponding switch. Once the window is down, briefly
release the switch and then hold it in the same direction again for 3 seconds.

The calculated checksum will be replaced in the modified dataset with the old checksum. See point 6 for the
checksum calculation.
Before uploading the new data set, the infotainment system must be reset to factory settings.
After that, it is necessary to unlock the BCM (control unit 09) via SFD for the upload.
Then the data set can be uploaded. It must be ensured that the 'Delete/Erase' option is activated in
VCTOOL and VCP.
For software versions above 0174, it is recommended to upload all parts of the BCM data set in one go to
prevent an error from remaining in the control unit, which could indicate a manipulated data set.
If problems occur, it may also help to upload the data set a second time.

For vehicles that are not connected to WeConnect by VW or should no longer be connected:
After uploading the dataset, the adaptation values in the BCM need to be reset.
STG 09 -> Basic Settings -> "Reset all adaptation values".
If the vehicle has been connected to WeConnect by VW and should no longer be connected:
1. Reset the infotainment to factory settings (Do not set up or connect yet!)
2. Remove the vehicle from your WeConnect account page (WeConnect contract will still remain, but I
cannot confirm the status of any purchases)
3. Delete the WeConnect account with VW (Go to Settings -> Account Settings -> Delete User Account)
4. Create a new WeConnect account the following day (You can use the same email address as the old
account)
5. Add the vehicle using its identification number
6. Enter your new WeConnect account details in the infotainment system (Not before)
Subsequently, the relevant data from the vehicle will be loaded into your account and profile, including the
number of turn signal cycles in this case.

6 Calculate CRC32 checksum
After a dataset has been modified, the last 8 characters must be replaced with a newly calculated checksum.
Otherwise, the changes will not be accepted by the control unit.
There is a calculator available for this purpose, for example, on this website:
https://www.lddgo.net/en/encrypt/crc
You need to select „HEX“ for the „Content Type“ and set „CRC-32“ for the „Algorithm“.
The data block, except for the old checksum (last 8 characters), must be entered in the „Input Content“
After clicking the „Calculate“ button, the result will be displayed below as „Check Result(HEX)“.

7 Modifications
7.1 Enhancing Harman/Kardon OEM subwoofer
By making a simple modification to the subwoofer’s enclosure, a significantly better bass can be achieved.
What is needed:
- A vibrating saw (narrow blade) or Dremel with the appropriate tool
- Trox 25 screwdriver
- Something for deburring
- Sandpaper
First, the subwoofer must be removed. It is located in the trunk under the floor in the cargo area. Then,
disconnect the connector (push both retaining tabs inwards) and loosen the large plastic nut in the center.
Now, the subwoofer can be taken out.
Next, the subwoofer must be removed from the enclosure. To do this, simply unscrew 5 screws (Torx 25).
Then lift the speaker along with the plastic part.

Only the marked area needs to be cut out:
After cutting, there must be a hole leading into the interior of the enclosure for everything to work correctly:

7.2 Sunglasses compartment for the center console
Since VW did not provide a suitable space in the interior of the Golf 8 for sunglasses, I created my own
solution and 3D-printed it.
The new sunglasses compartment is placed in the center console, beneath the elbow rest.
Additionally, I incorporated a coin holder and a parking spot for the OBDeleven device.
The grey parts shown here (2 parts) will be 3D-printed with ABS, ASA, or another heat-resistant material (as
the interior can reach temperatures of around 60°C in the summer).
The parts shown in yellow will be 3D-printed with TPU to ensure there are no noise issues.

6. Now, you can turn off the ignition and begin working on the rear brakes.
The brake cylinders should now close. They are fully closed when there are no sounds (clear buzzing) coming

10 MIB3-Updates
10.1 Offline Navigation Map Update (without WeConnect)
1. The installed version can be checked against the one displayed on the website. To do this, click on "Setup"
in the vehicle and select "System Information.
3. Select the corresponding vehicle, model year, and navigation system, then click on "Download." The
currently available version will also be displayed here.
4. Extract the downloaded file onto a USB stick (at least 32GB, preferably with a Type-C connector or with an
adapter) using 7-zip. The USB stick can be formatted in exFAT or NTFS file format. Now, there should be
numerous folders visible on the USB stick:
5. Plug the USB stick into the vehicle and leave it connected.
No further action is required. The MIB3 updates the maps automatically in the background during normal
use of the vehicle.
The completion of the update can only be determined by checking the system information. The version
number should have changed.

3. Unpack (with 7-zip) the downloaded file on a USB stick (preferably with a Type C connector or with a
adapter). The USB stick can be formatted in, exFAT, or NTFS file format. On the USB stick, it should look
like this:

14 General Note’s
It may happen that the adaptation channels differ in naming depending on the software used (Odis, OBD11,
VCDS, VCP, VCTool) and their label file.
Also, it can happen that some coding’s do not work with every software version. Therefore, the codings
indicate the software version with which I have tested them. But this does not mean that the respective
coding only works with that software version.
Do not code or update control unit 44 (steering), as this may cause a defect in the control unit. Thank you
for the notice!
