Purpose This chapter outlines the policy to provide signage relative to UBD operations, ensuring
that personnel are warned of any potential hazards and notifying them of any safe working
practices that are to be followed.
Scope These policies and procedures apply to all UBD operations.

General Guidelines
Signage The objective is for signage to be displayed, alerting all personnel on location to the

• Due to the regional operations all UBD signage is to be shown in French and
English, where text is applicable.
• The requirements for signage will meet or exceed those highlighted by the contract
or local regulations.
• This procedure must be adhered to on all Weatherford UBD Operations and in all
Weatherford UBD regional bases.
• Any additional signage requirements will be met at the request and justification of
the customer.
• It is Weatherford’s policy to adopt signage procedures that will assist all personnel
on location to recognize hazards that may be present at the UBD workplace.
• Any signage that becomes damaged or illegible shall be replaced immediately.
Personnel • It shall be the responsibility of the Weatherford Project Manager to notify all
Responsibility personnel involved with the project, of the meaning of the signage used during the
initial Familiarization Presentation.
• It is the responsibility of the personnel onsite to ensure that they fully understand
the meaning of the signs displayed and should ask if they do not.
• It is the responsibility of the Project Manager to ensure that the signs are available
for the equipment supplied.
• It is the responsibility of the Senior Supervisor to ensure that the signage is
correctly positioned throughout the UBD system, and that there are adequate
numbers displayed.
• The Project Manager must be notified if there is insufficient numbers of signs
available.
• All signs must be correctly displayed in accordance to the Signage Procedure.
• Where possible it may be required to have locally printed signage displayed if any
additional language problems are thought to be a safety risk.

Detailed Signage Procedures
Sonatrach The Senior Supervisor should ensure signage procedures are followed with the assistance
Project Signage and support from all the UBD crew onsite. The procedures and guidelines should be

Step Fixed Signs
Confined Space Entry signs shall be attached alongside all access hatches and
1 man-ways, on the farm storage tanks, the four-phase separator and the fuel tank
inspection hatch.
Harness Required signs shall be attached alongside the access ladder / steps on
2 the farm storage tanks. In the event personnel have to work on top of the units for
any period of time.
Harness Required sign shall also be attached within the RPM 3000 workstation
3 container, notifying the RCH Operator that the safety equipment must be used
when removing and locating the RPM 3000 RCH onto the rig stack.
Fire Extinguisher signs shall be attached in all areas where extinguishers are
4 located and will be positioned above or at head height where possible, so that they
are easily seen.
Various Safety Equipment signs shall be attached in all areas where the relative
equipment is located and will be positioned above or at head height where
possible, so that they are easily seen. Additional signage for Safety Equipment
5 should be displayed on the outside / door of any unit where the equipment can be
found within. Safety Equipment signage includes, but is not limited to Breathing
Apparatus, First Aid Kits, Eye Wash Stations, Safety Harnesses, Gas
Monitors, Stretchers, Showers.
Hearing Protection Required signs shall be attached to the door or frame of all
6 compression equipment supplied that either has diesel driven engines or high-
pressure vent lines, i.e. Booster, Compressors, N2 Unit and Generators.
WHMIS / COSHH Data Sheet signs shall be attached to the door of the command
7
center, as this will be where the relative data will be recorded and archived.
Hazardous Chemical / Flammable Fluids signs shall be attached to the storage
containers in which the chemicals and lubricants are located, the RPM 3000
8
container in which lubricants are transported, the farm tanks; four phase separator
and the fuel tank.
ESD Station signs shall be attached to each station, ensuring they are all easily
9
identifiable and visible from a distance.
Flow Line Arrows shall be attached to various pipes throughout the system
10
ensuring that the direction of flow is quickly identified.
No Smoking signs shall be attached to all containers, office units and the
11
command center notifying personnel of the onsite no smoking policies.
Hard Hat, Boots and Protective Glasses Required signs shall be attached to
12 various units and skids through out the UBD system, notifying personnel of the
onsite PPE policies.

Step Portable Signs
Hazardous Area / No Entry signs should be placed near the UBD choke manifold and the diesel fuel

tank.
Three High Pressure / No Entry signs should be placed along the high-pressure lines from in front of
2 the Compression System, along side the catwalk and at the entrance to the substructure, where the
N2 lines are connected to the annulus.
Striped Barrier Tape should be run out highlighting the boundaries of the relative hazardous areas so
3
that no un-authorized personnel enter the restricted zones.
