The Mysterious Map
Rainy afternoons were boring, especially when the internet was out. So Lila decided to explore
the attic. It was dusty and dark, filled with old trunks and boxes. In a corner, she found a thick
leather book with gold writing on the spine.
Inside the book was a folded piece of parchment. A hand-drawn map. It showed a forest near her
house—with an X near a strange old tree.
She called her best friend Sam, and they agreed to check it out the next morning.
They packed snacks, flashlights, and a tiny shovel. The path was muddy, and the woods were full
of buzzing bugs. Finally, they reached the spot. A twisted tree stood tall, its roots like giant
fingers.
Sam started digging. After a few minutes, they hit something hard—a rusty tin box. Inside were
yellowed letters, faded photos, and a ribbon.
Lila picked up one photo.
“This… this is my great-grandma! And someone else.”
They read the letters. They were secret notes between two best friends who met during wartime.
One of them was Lila’s great-grandmother. The other had moved away, and this was their hidden
memory box.
Lila smiled.
“Looks like we just found a treasure of stories.”
