Context:
"PizzaNation," a popular national pizza chain, is expanding rapidly due to its
high-quality products and innovative customer service. To maintain this
momentum, PizzaNation must train its new employees quickly and efficiently to
handle diverse tasks. The company wants an online training program that is
engaging, adaptive, and practical.
Challenge for your team:
You are a team of instructional designers hired by PizzaNation to develop a
cutting-edge online training program. Your task is to create a comprehensive
instructional design plan for training new employees effectively within two weeks
of hiring. The design plan should include Analyze, Design, Develop,
Implement, and Evaluate stages.
The training program must:
1. Educate employees on essential pizza shop operations.
2. Facilitate engaging and motivating learning experiences.
3. Assess employees’ progress and provide adaptive learning opportunities.
Steps for the Group Project
Phase 1: Analysis
Conduct needs analysis to identify the learning needs of new employees.
Define learning objectives for the online learning program.
Phase 2: Design
Develop the curriculum structure for the training program.
Outline learning modules.
Decide on the learning content for each module.
Decide on which subject matter experts you need to develop the learning
contents.
Decide on instructional delivery methods (video, text, simulation,…).
Decide on assessment points.
Phase 3: Development
Develop a roadmap for learning content development.
Provide a detailed description of the online learning environment to be
developed (user interface and user experience, accessibility, learning content
delivery, adaptive learning paths, scaffolding and feedback features,
engagement features, assessment and feedback, tracking learning progress,
security and privacy).
Phase 4. Implementation
Develop a mock-up story to illustrate the implementation of the training
program. Start by creating a detailed learner persona. Describe the persona's
journey, beginning from their first login to the online platform, through their
interactions within the program, and culminating in their successful completion
of the training. Highlight key activities, challenges, and achievements to bring
the experience to life.
Phase5. Evaluation
Suggest strategies to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the
instructional design process and the learning solution you have developed.
