AGRICULTURE FIELD FACILITATOR POSITION

About LEAD (Linkages for Economic Advancement of the Disadvantaged)


LEAD is a registered PVO (PVO Number 09/11) whose mission is to initiate, undertake and
implement economic empowerment programs in Zimbabwe, focusing on resilience building, food
security and livelihoods, and enterprise development to uplift households and their communities
in local and national economic development.

LEAD is currently implementing the USAID funded Tsungai project in Gutu district, Masvingo
Province, among its other development initiatives.

Agricultural Field Facilitator for Tsungai Project (June to December 2025)


The Agricultural Field Facilitator will be based at ward level, travelling to the field in the wards
of operation. Reporting to the Agriculture Specialist, he / she provides front line technical and
extension services in adoption of climate smart agriculture in crops and small livestock
(specifically poultry), and is responsible for coordinating and collaborating activities in the
operational area with relevant stakeholders and partners.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Mobilize and conduct trainings and extension services in the selected wards

 Select suitable demonstration sites in conjunction with farmers

 Establish demonstration sites

 Conduct farmer trainings

 Monitor and manage the demonstration sites (Innovation Hubs) to the highest standard.

 Guide and monitor the performance of lead and mentored farmers in adoption of Climate
smart agricultural practices and improved technologies.

 Develop, submit for approval and maintain weekly or monthly activity plans

 Implement activities in the wards according to weekly/monthly work plans.

 Coordinate and collaborate activities in the operational area with relevant stakeholders

 Facilitate and provide technical guidance in support of private sector engagement with
producers’, community-owned crop and livestock enterprises

 Ensure all data are captured accurately on M and E tools provided, and submitted timely.

 Organize and conduct field and technical learning days in the operational wards.

 Capture field data (rainfall, input rates, yields, sales e.t.c) of farmers

 Maintain an up to date database of farmers

 Collaborate and work closely with local authorities and AGRITEX personnel and
program relevant stakeholders.

 Attend and participate in meetings where LEAD representation is required at ward level.

 Maintain all allocated company property safely and in good order.

 Generate relevant periodic reports i.e. weekly highlights, monthly reports, photos and any
reports that may be required

 Performing any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


COMPETENCIES

 Ability to work under pressure  At least a Diploma in Agriculture covering


 Good computer skills crop and livestock production. A first degree
 Ability to work with minimum supervision in Agriculture will be an added advantage.
 Good interpersonal, training & supervisory  At least 3 years’ experience in rural based
skills agricultural development projects.
 Ability to communicate at all levels  Relevant experience in improving food
 USAID experience a plus. security and incomes of small holder farmers.
 Good report writing skills  Good knowledge of M&E data systems
 Ability to ride a motor bike (Clean Class 3  Experience work in, and ability to
Licence) is a must. communicate in local languages common in
the project district is an added advantage.
