Principle: Kshara kalpana

Aim of the Practical: For Practical demonstration


Equipment: Electric Balance, Steel vessel, Gas stove, Ladle, tongs , Cloth, rubber tube
Ingredients:

Method of Preparation:
• Above weighed Apamarga Panchanga Bhasma (Ash) was taken in big vessel.
• Then it was dissolved in six times of water and kept overnight.
• Next day, the supernatant liquid was decanted with help of rubber tube and filtered
through cotton cloth for 21 times.
• The decanted liquid was heated in another vessel till water get evaporated and Kshara
was collected at the bottom of vessel.
• Then it was weighed and stored in air tight container .

Observations:
• Apamarga panchanga Ash was blakish grey in color.
• When the ash was kept in water for overnight; the ash was sedimented at the
bottom of vessel and water became transparent.
• pH of Ksharajala was …….
• Whitish coloured Kshara was deposited at the bottom of the vessel after complete
evaporation of water.

Confirmative Test (Chief Desired Characteristic): yellowish white in color and


kshariya taste
Precautions:
- The mixture of ash and water should be kept at an undisturbed place.
- Filtration of supernatant liquid should be done carefully.
- Continuous stirring should be done during heating.

• As per Rasatarangini, quantity of water is 4 times than ash ( R.T.14/59-61)and
Filteration by three folded cloth is mentioned
• As per Ayurveda sara sangraha, 8 times water is mentioned for kshara nirman.
