Support by certification
By default, Semantic Layer data sources are tested and certified internally by SAP for given database and middleware versions set as
reference versions. In issue cases, SAP provides support that is conditioned on the ability to reproduce the incident on the certification
reference versions.

Support by reference or by compatibility

Some data sources, tagged as compatible, are not tested by SAP, but are supported by reference with a compatibility statement between
middleware and database server publicly provided by the vendor. In issue cases, SAP provides support if and only if the incident is also
reproducible on database and middleware versions certified by SAP. otherwise, support will be provided by the vendor.

Limited Support for Generic Standard connectivity

Developers can implement custom Semantic Layer data sources based on Generic standard connectivity such as JDBC, ODBC, OLEDB or
JavaBeans. In issue cases, SAP provides support that is conditioned on the ability to reproduce the incident on the reference source: MS
SQL for ODBC and OLE DB or MySQL for JDBC. On the other hand, SAP does not provide support for the universe creation or the SQL
generation on the top of these custom connections based on Generic standard connectivity.

Support for deprecated data sources

Deprecated data sources are connections used to be supported in the past but not anymore; excepted if there are mentioned as renamed, or
replaced by another version. When replaced by another one, SAP continues providing support that is conditioned on the ability to reproduce
the incident on the certification reference of replacement versions.

BI Business Intelligence.
BICS Business Intelligence Consumer Services. BICS connectivity is a way for BI tools to connect to Business Explorer (BEx) queries on the SAP NetWeaver BW server.
CA Directory LDAP Server Implementation for Computer Associates.
CR4E Crystal Reports for Enterprise.
D2D Direct to Data: it corresponds to a data source type in CR4E (mainly Connection by Vendor).
EhP Enhancement Package: an optional package that allows customers to take advantage of ongoing business innovation while keeping the core systems stable.
EOL End Of Life. Another term is End Of Maintenance.
FP Feature Package: Package that delivers non-disruptive innovation for generally available product versions, also bundling software corrections and legal changes.
FPS Feature Package Stack. FPS is similar to an SPS, but it includes non-disruptive and non-mandatory features.

OLAP UNV Universe based on an OLAP source defined with Universe Design Tool.
OS Operating System.
SAP software that has a version number, is delivered at a particular point in time and has defined maintenance phases. The terms “release” and “product version”

RHCK Red Hat Compatible Kernel for Oracle Linux.
RHEL Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
RTC Release To Customer: date that marks the initial availability of software product for productive use during the controlled delivery phase.
SCN SAP Community Network.
SLES SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
SP Support Package is a bundle of software corrections available as a support package for a Java support package.
Support Package Stack is a set of support packages and patches for the respective software product version that shall be used in the given combination. Support
SPS package stacks should be seen as an entity in themselves; customers must heed the minimum requirements and dependencies between individual components and
apply the support packages and patches specified in the support package stack together.
SSU Single Source Universe: UNX modeling data from a Single Source.
TLS Transport Layer Security. It encrypts data sent over the Internet to ensure a better protection.
UEK Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Oracle Linux.
UDT Universe Design Tool: application to define and manage UNV universes.
UI User Interface.
UNV Relational Universe defined with Universe Design Tool (UDT). It can be converted to UNX file in Information Design Tool.
