WHAT IS GPT?
● Garment Package Test or Garment Performance Test, a critical
process in the garment industry to ensure product quality and safety.
● It involves testing various parameters such as dimensional stability,
appearance after washing, colorfastness, pH value, and fiber
content.
● The GPT test report serves as production approval for the vendor,
based on sample testing to ensure garment safety standards.
PURPOSE OF GPT
● Ensure Safety, Performance, and Durability Across Product
Types
● Verify compliance with international standards (ISO, AATCC, GB).
● Mandatory approval step for all PUMA suppliers to maintain
product quality and brand trust.
PUMA APPAREL TESTING POLICY
PUMA defines strict minimum quality standards covering :
01 ●
●
●
Color fastness
Physical tests
Chemical safety (Restricted Substances )
PUMA apparel must meet standards of EU, US,
Japan, and China.
02 PUMA Garment test requirements are driven by
their intended End use, with use of any
embellishments applied to the garments e.g., Cotton
weft knitted top with heat seal labels .
03
Garment suppliers must ensure all fabrics, trims, and
completed garments meet PUMA’s quality, chemical,
and performance testing standards before production
and shipping.

Third-Party Laboratory Testing
Bulk laboratory testing must be done by :
● PUMA-accredited laboratories
● Approved third-party laboratories
Labs must be accredited under: DIN, ISO, JIS, ASTM, or GB
standards.
Lab must maintain current certification under the PUMA
Laboratory Accreditation Program.
