READING COMPREHENSION

Everyone in my class enjoys helping in the community. Next week, my class is going to hold a
bake sale. I asked my class what else to do to help in their community.
Tina said that she organized food driver with her family every month. Her family helps collect
food from their community to give to people who can’t afford food. Mike said that he
volunteered at an animal shelter on the weekends. He helps look after animals that people
don’t want anymore. He cares for the animals by feeding and washing them.
Ryan told me that his family donated clothes to charity shops every season. The charity shops
can sell the clothes and collect money to help the poor in the community. Michele said that she
cleaned up beaches every summer. In the summer lots of people visits the beach, and they
leave behind a lot of litter. Michelle and her family picks up the litter with other volunteers.
As for me, I like to help in my community, too. I visit elderly people at an old people’s home. It’s
really interesting to talk to them and learn about their lives. I’m looking forward to our class’s
bake sale next week. I hope we will make a lot of money for charity
