Declaration of Results

Results for the Ph.D. program will only be available on the website at www.aiimsjodhpur.edu.in. Results of individual
candidates will NOT be informed individually and candidates are advised NOT to call the Dean Academics Section for such
information.
Application Fee

 General/OBC Category: Rs.1500/- + Transaction Charges as applicable


 SC/ST/EWS Category: Rs.1200/- + Transaction Charges as applicable
 PWBD Candidates are exempted from any Fee

Mode of payment: Through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking


Candidates must keep their transaction id along with proof for future references and may be asked to submit later.

Candidate applying under OBC/EWS category must possess a valid OBC/EWS certificate issued by the
competent authority for admission in Central Govt. Institution. The OBC certificate will be considered
valid if it has been issued within one year prior to the last date of Online Registration of application (i.e.
18.06.2025). EWS certificate should be valid for current financial year i.e. 2025-26.

All applicants are advised to read the Prospectus carefully before starting Online
Registration and ensure that no column is left blank. In the event of rejection of the
application form, no correspondence/request for reconsideration will be entertained.
Applicants are also advised to download and take a print of the Registration Form. They
should retain a copy of the Registration Form till the completion of the Admission
Process.

ELIGIBILITY:

General Eligibility: A Candidate seeking admission to the course for study leading to the award of a Degree
of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

A. Medical Qualification
MBBS/MDS/Master of Physiotherapy with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS in the subject
concerned or Diplomat of National Board of Examination. Candidates who have obtained MBBS/MD/MS
/MDS degree from Medical Colleges not recognized by the Medical Council of India are not eligible to
apply.

B. Non-Medical/Life Sciences/Social Behavioural Sciences


The candidates with the following qualifications will be eligible:

The candidates who have passed M.Sc/MA/Masters in Engineering /Master of Physiotherapy or its
equivalent examination with at least 60 % marks in the subjects mentioned below: from the
colleges/institutes recognized by the UGC are eligible.

Non-Medical/Life Sciences
A degree of Master of Sciences (M.Sc) or Master in Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) or M.Sc. (Laboratory
Technology) or M.Sc (Speech & Hearing) in subjects allied to Medical Sciences such as Anatomy,
Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Human Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology,
Immunology, Life Sciences including Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy,
Organic Chemistry, Anthropology & M.Sc (Human Genomics), ME/M.Tech.

Social Behavioural Sciences


The candidates with the following subjects are eligible for Social Behavioural Sciences, Anthropology,
Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Nutrition, Child Development. MA/M.Sc/M.Phil in Health
Promotion/Education, Health Management, Epidemiology, Environmental Health/Environmental Sciences
and Public Health, Nutrition/Applied Nutrition/Food & Nutrition, Health Economics/Applied
Economics/Economics, Public Health/Community Health and MPH, Post-graduation in Law i.e. LLM and
its equivalent qualification.

For PhD (Nursing):


A degree of Master of Science in Bio-Medical Sciences or Laboratory Medicine or M.Sc. Nursing with at
least 60% marks

Note: Candidates working under the Central Govt. /Semi Govt. /Autonomous organization should submit
their application through proper channel i.e., through the employer. A ‘No Objection Certificate’ is
mandatory from their employer before joining the Ph.D. programme.

REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION OF FOREIGN NATIONALS

a) The foreign nationals are required to send their application through Diplomatic channel. They are
also required to appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination along with other candidates.

b) They are required to apply in the prescribed form indicating the choice of the subject (only one
subject) for admission to postgraduate course leading to award of Ph.D. degree.
c) No seat is reserved in any discipline for foreign nationals (except for the bilateral agreement between
the Government of India and any other nation).
d) No Institute Fellowship will be provided to sponsored/Foreign candidates.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

Before applying, the candidates are advised to go through the admission notice and prospectus displayed at
the AIIMS JODHPUR website and published in the press carefully. Fill in the application form online in
accordance with the instructions. Please ensure that no column is left blank. Incomplete application will not
be considered and no correspondence will be entertained.
a) A list of the faculty members who are willing to take Ph.D. students and how many seats are
available under them will be displayed on the AIIMS JODHPUR website i.e. www.aiimsjodhpur.edu.in.
The Annexure – A is required to be recommended specifically by the concerned faculty member. The
faculty member may endorse one or two extra candidates (prospective), in addition to Seats available
under them.
b) Applicants for Ph.D. course who already have fellowship, should choose department and the faculty
member (under whose guidance he/she desires to undergo Ph.D. program) and indicate the same on
application form.
c) The guide will have an option to accept or not to accept the candidate. Candidates are advised to
contact guide before hand as the candidate can opt only one Faculty Member.
d) The candidates carrying their own fellowship from various funding agencies and the In-service
Medical Faculty of AIIMS JODHPUR will be exempted from the entrance tests and will appear for
counselling directly. However, all the candidates are required to fill the online application form.

Applications without the requisite Annexure-A will not be considered.

CATEGORIES OF CANDIDATES ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION


The following categories are eligible for registration to PhD programme of the Institute:
a) The candidates having their own fellowship (ICMR, DBT, CSIR, DST Inspire, UGC) from various
funding agencies, shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance exam. However, all the candidates are
required to fill the online application form.
b) RESEARCH SCHEME EMPLOYEES (WITH FINANCIAL SUPPORT UNDER ANY
PROJECT/SCHEME OF AIIMS JODHPUR): Candidates supported by the faculty of the Institute through
respective faculty’s extramural project fund. Faculty has to ensure the support to the candidate through the
entire period of Ph.D. program (3-5 years). The list of faculty members who have an extramural funding
available and are keen to take Ph.D. student, as per their entitlement under the relevant rules, is available
on AIIMS, JODHPUR website.
c) In service candidates of AIIMS, Jodhpur.

NOTE:
* Candidates who have qualified in above said examinations at Sr. No. (a) Own fellowship will be
exempted from the entrance examination. However, all the candidates are required to fill the online
application form along with Annexures.

* Candidates may apply for categories at serial no. (b). Candidates working under Central Govt./Semi
Govt./Autonomous organization should submit their applications through proper channel i.e. employer.
They will be required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer.
* Application of AIIMS JODHPUR Staff for Ph. D. registration will be considered as in-service
candidates as per guidelines laid down by AIIMS JODHPUR in this regard.

8. For In-Service candidates at AIIMS JODHPUR


a) Should be a regular employee of the institute and have minimum two years of regular service at
AIIMS JODHPUR.
b) NOC must be submitted along with the Application
c) Should have minimum three original papers published in indexed (PubMed, Medlar, Scopus)
Journals on the last date of submission of online application form.
d) All in-service candidates, except AIIMS JODHPUR Faculty members, will have to take the entrance
test.
e) An applicant (staff) should be below 50 years of age.
f) For in-service faculty members/In-service candidate who desire to enroll for Ph.D. programme, the
application should be routed through Head of the department with his/her recommendations along
with the NOC from concerned Establishment Branch.
The faculty candidate: -
 Should have at least 3 papers Published in the concerned discipline (Original Research Paper).

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course will be the time period from registration to submission of thesis i.e minimum
three years. However, the maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Selection for PhD registration is through a 2-stage process:


STAGE I: will consist of a written examination of 1.5 hours Duration which will be conducted in 2 parts
Part 1- Written examination of 50 marks (50 MCQs) of 1-hour duration on Research
Methodology, Biostatistics and Basic Sciences. Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark. Each
wrong answer will be awarded one third negative mark (-1/3). More than one answer will be treated
as wrong answer and awarded negative mark. Zero mark will be given for questions not attempted.

Part 2-There will be a paper consisting of Statement of Purpose (SOP) of 30 min duration for
judging the research aptitude. (Part 2 will not be considered for marking)

STAGE II: The candidates who secure 50th Percentile or more in stage I will be eligible for stage II
(Interview). However, the number of candidates called for stage II shall not exceed three times the number
of seats advertised under each guide. Selection will be based on Performance in the Interview. The interview
board will be constituted under the chairmanship of Dean (Academics).

NOTE:

I. The result will not be intimated to the candidate individually. The result of stage I will be displayed
on the Notice Board of AIIMS, Jodhpur.

II. A candidate from Institution of National Importance, Central Research Institute of Eminence and
Reputed Public Health Organizations (United Nations Agencies), ICMR, DRDO, CSIR, DBT, DST,
AYUSH Ministry can apply for a PhD programme at AIIMS Jodhpur. The parent organization needs to
have a MoU with AIIMS Jodhpur for this purpose with a condition that organization does not have its own
PhD Programme. In such cases, Guide would be from AIIMS Jodhpur and Co- Guide can be from the
organization of the applicant. The applicant needs to appear in the orientation sessions, and other contact
sessions mandatorily at AIIMS Jodhpur. Data collection would be allowed at their own Institution, under
the supervision of Co-Guide. There would be no extra financial implication on AIIMS Jodhpur. The project
needs to be approved by the IEC of AIIMS Jodhpur.

Fees:

Ph.D. fee of Rs. 20000/- shall be levied on the candidate pursuing PhD at AIIMS Jodhpur for the duration
of PhD Course.

Hostel Accommodation: As per availability

Institute Library:

With the start of the academic session in 2012, a Central Library was established at the Institute. It houses
numerous books on medical and nursing subjects and also has computer terminals for the use of Faculty
and students. The Library is Wi-Fi enabled. It has around 5000 medical textbooks, reference books. The
Library also has the 1000 e-books in Clinical Key and 550 textbooks and 71 LWW E-Books on Nursing.
Subscription to ‘UpToDate’, which is evidence based clinical decision support resource, was started in
March 2017. More than 1014 E-Journals from various publishers have been subscribed to by the library. In
March 2016, the Library became a member of ERMED Consortium initiated by NML, New Delhi. Through
this portal, access to more than 243 online e-journals across various specialties has been made possible.
Lippincott Advisor & Lippincott Procedures also subscribed in 2018. Subscription of Clinical key complete
E-database was started in 2018-2019. In the year 2019 BMJ Complete E – Resources Packages and
Cochrane Library Database also subscribed. The Library has a separate wing for E-Library with 31
workstations wherein different subjects are taught using various simulation and software modules.
