Introduction – self
Streghths =An altuirsm, self sufficient, not a good team player tends to overcommit
Self-evaluation can be a step forward in personal development (Jiang, 20115). To
evaluate myself, I must be able to reminisce on my past experiences, which allows me
to comprehend what beliefs I have cultivated and the structure upon which I
can develop my life. I also aim to reflect on my present to determine whether there is an
opportunity to develop further, as well as ensure that my future goals are met. I will be
assessing my personal values strengths and opportunities by drawing insights from self-
audits. To achieve this I will be using Gibs theory and SWOT anlysis.
GIBS THEORY
Description
Over the past few weeks, I have taken the initiative to self-audit my skills by assessing
the competencies and skills I have acquired through learning, self-study and workshops.
The evaluation focused on my abilities in the realms of critical thinking, communication,
teamwork, creativity and technical expertise. Additionally, I reviewed the classes
and encounters that helped me grow.
Feelings
I went through a roller coaster of emotions while evaluating myself. I felt confident and
took pride in the areas I excelled in. However, on confronting my weaknesses I felt
flimsy and self-doubt crept in. Also, I felt rebuttal in accepting some aspects as
weaknesses since I perceive them as my greatest strengths. For instance, I am selfless
and tend to overcommit thus doing the majority of the work when doing group work.
This made me like but through self-audits I realize that this made me lag in my other
activities and a bad team player
Evaluation
The self-audit has made me more aware of my strengths and shortcomings. It has also
helped me in addressing my prejudices and expectations regarding my abilities and skill
sets. It has made me understand that self-awareness isn't fixed but instead a continual
process implying that I can change my shortcomings to be my strengths. I now know
that self-awareness is the first stage of solving any shortfalls and what is now required
of me is to put in work to change the notion.
I am altruistic, my passion lies in helping others selflessly. This has been a huge
challenge as I tend to overcommit when working in a group. I am also an introvert
implying am self-sufficient. Initially, I believed that working by myself was more efficient
since am excused from dealing with group theatrics. Mastering to use my
communication skills has helped my ability to work in a group. Additionally, it has
improved my personal and professional relationships.
I struggle with time management due to my procrastination habits and also being self-
dependent I did most of the work. With time I learnt to be more aware of my duties as a
team member, advising the team to allocate work to everyone. This has prevented me
from overcommitting and lagging in my other class activities.
Analysis
I can utilize my strengths; critical thinking, technical skills, rhetorical thinking and
creativity to build my digital brand. Furthermore, I also have to improve my weaknesses
to help me provide a more proficient digital image. The analysis has also made me
more aware of my hidden streghts. For instance I identified rhetoric knowledge as one
of my streghts. This has impacted my creative thinking making me more of a divergent
thinker rather than a convergent thinker.
Conclusion
This self-audit has helped me be more aware of my skills and competencies. It has
made me embrace my shortfalls and strengths in a manner that can make me an even
better person and professional. By leveraging my strengths and weaknesses, I will be
able to build a novel digital brand. This will help me be more appealing and more
connected to my online audience.
Action plan
I plan to build my skills and competencies by enhancing my strengths and improving on
my weaknesses. This will help to shape my digital brand. My digital content will highlight
my professional and personal milestones. This will be posted across all digital platforms
to ensure consistency. Since technology is an evolving field am keen to always be on
the lookout for networking, and mentorship and doing online courses will help me stay
ahead. Am also planning to use Calendar software to create schedules and set
reminders to help me be more time conscious. Also, I have to be more disciplined in
following my skills and sticking to my roles to avoid overcommitting.
SWOT ANALYSIS
Digital brands have to be transparent, and authentic and have high-quality content
(Rosario and Cruz, 2019). I aim to use my strengths to develop a compelling digital
image. My digital brand has to represent my professional gains while sticking to my
moral valuations. The aim is to represent my digital image genuinely and consistently
across various digital media. I will constantly update content on digital platforms. The
content will highlight my professional and personal milestones and also insights and
thoughts on issues that fascinate me. I think this will provide a huge opportunity to help
me expand my network while also helping others develop their expertise.
To conclude personal reflection has made me more aware of my strengths and
weaknesses putting me in a better position for personal and career growth. The process
has enhanced my communication skills, and technical abilities and made me make
better decisions in life. Am not perfect; I have shortcomings, especially in time
management, and am not a good team player. This does not however imply I cannot
improve since I have already shown signs of becoming a team player and with my PDP
objectives, I do believe I can improve in not only working within a team but in many
other areas in my personal and professional life.
