The Story of Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich is a film based on a true story. Erin Brockovich is a young woman who doesn’t have much
luck in life. She’s a single mother with three children, and she is trying hard to find work. One day, she
meets a lawyer named Ed Masry and he gives her a job.
While working at Ed’s law firm, Erin discovers some medical records in a case which Ed was working on
about a piece of land. She slowly begins to realise that a large energy company called Pacific Gas and
Electric (PG&E) may be responsible for the pollution of the water in a small town called Hinkley. This
pollution has made many people in the town ill with serious illnesses like cancer.
Although she has no background in the law, Erin decides that she has to help the people of Hinkley. She
finds out where the town is and goes there, where she sees green river water and frogs with two heads. She
also meets many people with medical problems. She starts to collect information to prove that PG&E is
guilty and, after many months, she finally has enough to bring a case against the company.
We follow Erin through all her problems, and in the end, she wins the case in court. PG&E is found guilty of
pollution and is ordered to pay $333 million to 650 people in the town who have become ill. The people of
Hinkley are very grateful to the young woman, and she receives $2.5 million. Her luck has changed!
