Purpose:
Examining and recording the Anatomy and Physiology laboratory room's structural
arrangement and design on April 30, 2025 is the aim of this field report. The purpose is
to assess how the physical layout of the room promotes efficient learning, makes
practical activities easier, and provides a secure setting for carrying out physiological
and anatomical studies by examining the configuration of the tools, workstations, safety
features, and educational materials.
Methods:
The primary method for examining the room structure is direct observation, which
involves walking around the lab and closely examining the physical arrangement,
positioning of the equipment, and general organization. Workstation locations, storage
spaces, safety devices, and the manner in which people move across the room was
noted. To visually record the room's arrangement and particular points of interest for
future reporting or study, photographic documentation was utilized.
Results:
The laboratory was disorganized as students do not observe proper cleanliness.
Ventilation is a serious issue. Some of the bones were vandalized, and needed proper
maintenance. There was low signal connection which may cause issues in learning.
Equipment unrelated to anatomy and physiology were everywhere left by students. On
the other hand, the area for group works was efficient, it had better lighting, and could
cater more than 5 students. The bones and plastic muscles have great qualities that
would really help with visual learning for the students and easily accessible. The room
had a hand washing area for after the activities.
Discussion:
Majority of the facility’s equipment and structure are in compliance, but there are serious
dangers to both safety and learning outcomes from the laboratory's current state, which
is marked by disorganization and inadequate cleanliness. Untidy work areas, misplaced
equipment, and dirty surfaces not only reduce student productivity but also raise the risk
of harm and accidents. Because students might not be completely aware of their
obligations or the standards necessary in a lab environment, the absence of clear
guidelines and observance contributes to this continuing problem. Creating and carrying
out precise laboratory regulations can significantly improve the condition of the lab.
It is advised that the laboratory's evident disorganization and inadequate cleanliness be
addressed right away. To maintain a clean and safe setting, every workstation should
be routinely maintained and completely cleaned. To cut down on cluttering and boost
productivity, items and instruments must be appropriately labeled and kept in their
assigned locations. Clear laboratory regulations, such as those pertaining to hygiene,
waste management, and equipment return after use, ought to be set into place and
strictly enforced. To maintain these improvements and encourage accountability among
students and staff, tasks should be assigned and a regular cleaning and inspection plan
should be established.
