Water Cycle

The Water Cycle is the continuous movement of water through various stages including evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, collection, infiltration, and runoff, driven by solar energy. It plays a crucial role in climate regulation and supports life on Earth. Interestingly, the same water has been cycled through the environment for millions of years.

🔄 Overview

The Water Cycle is the continuous movement of water through Earth’s surface, atmosphere, and
underground. It’s driven by solar energy and essential for climate regulation and life.

🌊 Key Stages

1. Evaporation

 Sun heats water → vapor rises from oceans/lakes.

 Sublimation: Ice → vapor (skips liquid).

2. Transpiration

 Plants release water vapor from leaves.

 Together with evaporation = Evapotranspiration.

3. Condensation

 Vapor cools → liquid droplets form clouds.

 Needs condensation nuclei (dust, etc.).

4. Precipitation

 Water falls as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

5. Collection (Accumulation)

 Water gathers in oceans, rivers, lakes, glaciers.

6. Infiltration & Percolation

 Water soaks into ground → filters to aquifers.

7. Runoff

 Water flows over land to streams and oceans.

 Can cause erosion and move nutrients.

💡 Fun Fact

The same water cycles over and over — you might drink the same water a dinosaur once did!
