OBJECTIVES:
To explain the importance of sustainable development and show how it has
improved over the years.
INTRODUCTION:
Sustainable development is defined as development that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
It is important to develop a country and help it grow. This rough draft shows us how it helps
the country grow and what must be done to achieve that.
What is sustainable development?
Sustainable development can be defined as development that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs
These include social progress and equality, environmental protection, conservation of natural
resources and stable economic growth. Everybody has the right to a healthy, clean and safe
environment. Everybody has the right to a healthy, clean and safe environment.
Sustainability improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem and preserves natural
resources for future generations. In the corporate world, sustainability is associated with an
organization's holistic approach, taking into account everything, from manufacturing to
logistics to customer service.
What Is development?
In the economic study of the public sector, economic and social development is the process
by which the economic well-being and quality of life of a nation, region, local community, or
an individual are improved according to targeted goals and objectives.
What are the main features of sustainable development?
The main features of sustainable development are:
• it respects and cares for all kinds of life forms.
• it improves the quality of the human life.
• it minimizes the depletion of natural resources.
• it enables the communities to care for their own environment.
Environmental Quality – Environmental sustainability is the responsibility to conserve
natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support health and wellbeing, now and in
the future. In order to have healthy communities, we need clean air, natural resources, and a
nontoxic environment.
Growth - in order to grow and develop more we require more resources such as energy,
water, and space. Sustainability aims to use our resources efficiently to benefit our campus
and community.
Healthcare – Sustainability and healthcare are intricately related since the quality of our
environment affects public health. For example, many health issues are directly related to air
and water quality.
Current status of development:
Development is a process that creates growth, progress, positive change or the addition of
physical, economic, environmental, social and demographic components. The economy of
India is characterized as a middle-income developing market economy. It is the world's sixth-
largest economy by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP).
As per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) estimates, India's real GDP growth is projected at
9.5% in FY22; this includes 18.5% increase in the first quarter of FY22; 7.9% growth in the
second quarter of FY22; 7.2% rise in the third quarter of FY22 and 6.6% growth in the fourth
quarter of FY22.
Achieving Sustainable Development
Sustainable development can be achieved if we follow the following points:
• It can be achieved by restricting human activities.
• Technological development should be input effective and not input utilizing.
• The rate of consumption should not surpass the rate of salvation.
• For renewable resources, the rate of consumption should not surpass the rate of
production of renewable substitutes.
• All types of pollution should be minimized.
• It can be achieved by sensible use of natural resources.
Examples of Sustainable Development
• Wind energy: Wind power or wind energy describes the process by which the wind
is used to generate mechanical power or electricity.
• Solar energy: Solar energy is the transformation of heat, the energy that comes
from the sun. It has been used for thousands of years in many different ways by
people all over the world. The oldest uses of solar energy were for heating, cooking,
and drying.
• Crop rotation: Crop rotation is the practice of growing a series of different types of
crops in the same area across a sequence of growing seasons. It reduces reliance on
one set of nutrients, pest and weed pressure, and the probability of developing
resistant pest and weeds.
• Sustainable construction: Sustainable construction is the practice of creating a
healthy environment that's based on ecological principles.
• Efficient water fixtures: Water efficiency can be achieved by using improved
technology, for example, water-efficient appliances like washing machines and
dishwashers. Fixtures which allow us to use less water to get a job done effectively are
also known as being water efficient, for example, water-efficient showerheads, taps
and toilets.
• Green space: green space (land that is partly or completely covered with grass,
trees, shrubs, or other vegetation). Green space includes parks, community gardens,
and cemeteries.
• Sustainable forestry: Sustainable Forest management is the management of
forests according to the principles of sustainable development. Sustainable forest
management has to keep the balance between three main pillars: ecological,
economic and socio-cultural.
CONCLUSION:
from this rough draft we see the importance of sustainable development and
how it helps our economy grow. Learning how to Sustainable develop is
essential, so that we can use our resources well so that we wont waste them.
