POWERED BY
HELLO! ICEBOX: STANDARD COMP
2

'ELLO T8RZ
With the state of VALORANT up in the air: pre-season with lots
of patches, we bring you the staple Icebox comp which should
still see a lot of play this year!

Due to the nature of the map, parts of the Playbook are shown
in-depth such as Postplants, other parts are paired back such as...
almost the rest of the Attack Sides :D

Defence we rely on our Jett player to imitate Derke, whilst the

rest of us play to delay, stay alive, and be useful in late rounds!

See you on the server :)

Many thanks!

PISTOL: SPITSHOCK A 5

OVERVIEW

Our Pistol round is an immediate

spit-shock punish on A whilst we play
a soft-retake on B (good luck Killjoy!).
Our aggression on A means we can
push out flank if Attack is fast towards
B or Mid.

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- Pistol!
- Attack keeps pathing through
A Main entrance

T
DEFAULT 6

OVERVIEW

Our Default idea is to play strong

towards A, setting up our Jett to
play aggressively for picks, whilst we
play to stall/retake on B. Usually we
will want to save our Sage wall to
strengthen our retakes. This strategy
requires discipline (not overcommitting
on A or B, especially after picks), to
allow for strong retakes.

On A, Sova or Sage can play as the

first rotator; Sova often makes sense
due to his ability to support.

WHEN TO CALL THIS STRAT: ALTERNATIVE KJ SETUP

- Generally well-rounded strategy LINK TO KILLJOY POV
- We don't want to OP Mid/B
- We have no specific ults

JETT OP ROUNDS 7

OVERVIEW

Jett OPing on Defence is an impactful

OP B OP MID OP A (DEFAULT)

OP ROUNDS DEFAULT
way for us to soften the Attack before
an almost-inevitable retake situation.
Our teammates should be acutely
aware of when/where to call for Jett
to OP and feed them information.

WHEN TO CALL THIS STRAT:

- Whenever we can afford an OP!

CALL THIS WHEN: CALL THIS WHEN: CALL THIS WHEN:

- We think Jett OP can get a pick Long B! - We think Jett OP can get a pick Mid! - The Default option when we aren't sure
where we can get a pick (same macro as Default!)

FIGHT A 8

OVERVIEW

FIGHT A is a round where we surprise

the Attack with a fast push towards
A, bringing the fight to them. Most
our rounds are a tediously passive +
disciplined, so this should catch off
the Attack.
Our Viper and Killjoy do their default
ideas, but need to be ready for the
Attack to react B fast (and perhaps
look to overwhelm them)

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- We think aggression will catch
off Attackers
- A good lowbuy option

B
FIGHT B 9

OVERVIEW

Our DEFAULT setup allows Attack

to scale Long B without too much
hesistation, so our FIGHT Bs are
designed to punish the Attack for
defaulting there. Each variation has
different use-cases, so get used to
knowing when to call each style.

WHEN TO CALL THIS STRAT:

- FIGHT B / SLIGGY WALL: We think
we'll win a brute-force fight
- GIANTS TRAP: Attack has been
scaling B without much utility
- GENERALLY: A holds with Jett have
GIANTS TRAP
been struggling and want Viper A

MID
FIGHT MID 10

OVERVIEW

FIGHT MID will be a very situational

call often used to pick-off teams who
have a gameplan around taking tube/
threatening middle (rare!).

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- Attack is aggressively defaulting/
lurking middle
- Attack has no sentinel (we can flank)
- Nothing else is working!

LT
VIPER ULT A 11

OVERVIEW

Our VIPER ULT A round is a sneaky

setup because we only activate the ult
once the Killjoy turret takes contact,
meaning the Attack may waste lots of
time/utility before we even ult! REACTIVE

Our B setup suggestion is the GIANTS

TRAP as the whole round is based on
disguising our Default.

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- We have Viper Ult!

LT
SOVA ULT B 12

OVERVIEW

Our Sova Ult suggestion is to play an

aggressive B Long round and trapping
the Attack when they try to break out
Sage wall. If the Attack goes A our Jett
can flank and Sova ult off of all the
KJ/Viper Utility on A.

Sova can also just play rotational on

our DEFAULT setup when he has ult.

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- We want to punish Long B

LT
JETT ULT B 13

OVERVIEW

Our Jett Ult suggestion is for Jett to

try to get a solo pick towards Long B,
a round preferable when we are
lowbuy due to its "hero play" nature!
Generally, great Jett players should
dictate their preference for where
they'd like to Ult and how!

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- Jett Ult (low buy around it preferred!)

LT
KJ ULT 14

OVERVIEW

With our KJ Ult we haven't

really specified how to play, our
recommendation is to play some from
of passive round (DEFAULT / OP) with
everyone being disciplined enough to
play for retake with the KJ Ult if we
are overwhelmed.

SAGE MUST SAVE WALL!!!

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- We have KJ Ult (against no Sova Ult!)

A DEFAULT (1/2) 16

PREPLANT

The A DEFAULT is bread-and-butter

Icebox from all levels of play, but
particularly powerful to punish lower
level teams who overcommit on A. We
can start 1-4 or 5A. This isn't a rushed
round, we can take the initial space
and drone when we feel it is safe to.

If site hit fails/trades happen cut

sound and wall up B, rehit A or silent
walk B.

WHEN TO CALL THIS STRAT:

- Defence is giving us picks/entries
on A VIPER CAN START THE ROUND LURKING,
- Defence is doing a poor job of LURK AFTER HELPING A, OR NOT LURK!

PLANTS + POSTPLANTS

Understanding the different plant

options and when to do each is a G2 PLANT OPEN PLANT FNATIC PLANT
really important aspect of Icebox, the
difference between good teams and
great teams.

As always, these are rough guides and

are hard to "set", there are also other
plants like the default safe plant and
the top site plant that might be worth
exploring!

The G2 Plant allows for a Postplant off-site triangle The Open Plant is an ideal plant that can be difficult The FNATIC Plant is a very safe plant as we avoid
from pipes/belt/nest whilst Jett "goes kill" and to secure versus some teams, but gives the most fights on the right side of the site, it results in
Sage hides in a corner praying to survive! amount of post-planting angles and options. a weaker on-site postplant and should be used as
a "last resort".
CALL THIS WHEN: CALL THIS WHEN:
- Defence isn't denying the G2 wall with mollies, - We got multiple picks onto site / know site is weak CALL THIS WHEN:
if they do we are probably forced into more - We are being denied both G2 Plant
standard plants and the Open Plant.
SH
A ORB PUNISH 18

OVERVIEW

The A ORB PUNISH is a micro play that

can be done at the start of almost any
type of round you'd like to run.

WHEN TO CALL THIS:

- Defence is 1 away from an ult
- Defence is regularly taking orb A

B
4-1B 19

OVERVIEW

Our comp isn't the best at taking B so

generally it's advised to abuse A, and
use B as more an antieco/lurking area.

BUT if we are careful about scaling B

and the Defence is poor at denying us
B plants, then it becomes a really solid
option.

WHEN TO CALL THIS STRAT:

- Antieco (the meme is "go A
on gun rounds, go B antieco"
- Jett is OPing A
- Defence is doing a poor job
denying B plants FIGHT SITE VARIATION (CALL THIS WHEN
DEFENCE IS DENYING OUR PLANTS WELL)
