Paramedical Prospectus
Paramedical Prospectus
Vidyasagar Institute of Health, named after the 19th century legendary, pioneering social reformer,
activist, and dedicated to the cause of upliftment of women, PanditIswar Chandra Vidyasagar, has
committed itself, since its inception, to its motto of Siksha, Swasthya and Progress by ensuring quality
education and rendering health services guided by its principle 'Work with smile, Work with Heart' to the
students and community as a whole. The college started functioning from 19th Dec '2002 with the
undergraduate courses in Medical Laboratory Technology and Physiotherapy (BPT). Later on, post
graduate courses in Nutrition and Dietetics (2006-07) and Physiotherapy (MPT) (2008-09) and
undergraduate courses in Nutrition (H) (2008-09) were introduced.
The institute has been set up under the auspices of Centre of Advancement of Higher Education,
Midnapore, a non- profit making organisation registered under the West Bengal Society Registration Act,
1961 and administered by a Board of Governors of the Society, to promote the cause of higher learning in
the fields of Health and Hygiene, Engineering, Law, Management, Social Work etc. In order to fulfil the
above objective, the Society sets up a 25 bedded Modern Hospital with all infrastructural facilities which
has been upgraded to 32 bedded Hospital with Swasthya Sathi B grade and also introduced a college with
allied and paramedical courses. Being Chairman of the Society as well as President of the Governing Body
of the college I am constantly vigilant of the faculty members for ensuring quality education and free
academic space to the stakeholders.. None of our pass-outs since 2006 are unemployed and I do believe
they are contributing a lot to the society as well.

Principal's Foreword
We are proud of our institute working under the auspices of Centre for Advancement of Higher Education,
Midnapore (CAHE) as because Centre for Advancement of Higher Education, Midnapore has the sole contribution
towards the establishment of Midnapore Medical College which we see today. The building in which Midnapore
Medical College runs was unconditionally donated by CAHE to the then Govt. of West Bengal under the leadership
of Prof. Dipak Sarkar, three decade long professor of Midnapore College and a dedicated social worker and activist
as well, to the cause of upliftment of downtrodden and common masses especially in the field of education and
health. Our college Vidyasagar Institute of Health under his guidance first strived to focus on the concept of
Bachelor degree on Medical Laboratory Technology. We succeeded and Vidyasagar University introduced
Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology first in our college and first in West Bengal in 2002. All of our pass
outs since then have been working in different government and private establishments as faculties, technicians and
independent practitioners. We have achieved this splendid height by ensuring quality education to the students,
creating conducive and student friendly environment, taking care of every individual, and exploiting every
stakeholder's best possible potential through constant and dedicated services of the faculty members in terms of
taking regular classes both theoretical and practical as well as providing sophisticated laboratories meant for them
to cover whole syllabi. I personally monitor all these aspects every day. Our beloved Chairman and President of the
Governing Body as well always keeps constant touch with all of us, inspires us and shares his long experiences in
teaching & learning process of higher education so that we can make use of every individual student's best potential
towards his better career and a well social being at the end. Our newly elected Secretary of the organisation Prof.
(Dr.) Bimal Krishna Das always strives to uplift the academic as well as infrastructural space of the institute by
sharing and exploiting his prolonged experiences in college education and university administration. Our promise
is to make every student admitted in the institute capable of getting a better assignment and to be recognised in the
society as a good human being.

It fills us with immense pride and satisfaction to witness the continued success and positive spirit
within our Physiotherapy OPD, now thriving for the past seven years. This milestone is a testament to
the dedication, hard work, and genuine care exhibited by each and every member of our team, including
our diligent students.
We have built a valuable space equipped with all the essential modalities needed to provide quality
physiotherapy services. However, the true strength of our OPD lies not just in the equipment, but in the
people who operate it.
We deeply appreciate the commitment of our students, who consistently demonstrate a strong work
ethic and a willingness to learn and contribute meaningfully to patient care.
The guiding principle, we embrace, "work with a smile and work with heart," truly reflects the
atmosphere and approach within our OPD. This philosophy not only benefits our patients, creating a
positive and encouraging environment for their recovery, but also fosters a supportive and rewarding
experience for everyone involved.
Thanks to each and every one of our team members for their continued dedication, your positive energy,
and your heartfelt commitment to our patients' well-being. We look forward to many more years of
providing excellent physiotherapy care together, driven by the same spirit of hard work, a smile, and a
