Sequence of Job Steps Safety Hazards Control Measures
1. Wear proper PPE Clothing, jewelry, long hair could get caught in Clothing should be sturdy and snug. Wrap long
machine hair in net.
Do not wear rings or jewelry when operating
machine.
2. Inspecting drill press. Tip over, sliding, walking. Electrical Safety. Ensure the drill press is bolted securely to the
floor.
Inspect/replace damaged or worn power cords
immediately.
Cord replacement should only be conducted by
a factory authorized technician.
3. Before starting drill press. Flying debris. Machine damage/injury. Never start the press before clearing the table
of all objects.
Properly lock the drill bit, cutting tool, or
sanding drum in the chuck.
Remove the chuck key before starting the
machine.
Tighten all lock handles before starting the
machine.
Before starting the operation, jog the motor
switch to make sure the drill bit does not
wobble or vibrate.
Do not try to drill material too small to be
securely held.
Injury Ensure that the belt guard on the drill
press is locked in place.

4. Starting drill press. Machine damage/injury. Never start the machine with the drill bit,
cutting tool, or sanding drum against the
workpiece.
Use only drill bits, cutting tools, sanding
drums, or other accessories with a shank size
recommended in your instruction manual.
Use only drill bits, cutting tools, or sanding
drums that are not damaged.
5. Operating drill press. Machine damage/injury. Always use recommended speeds for all
operations.
This information is provided by the
manufacturer in your instruction manual. JSA –
FM07 Use only accessories that are
recommended by the manufacturer for model.
Accessories that may be suitable for one tool
may create a risk of injury when used on
another tool.
6. Turning off drill press. Injury Turn the machine “OFF”, disconnect the
machine from the power source, and clean the
table/work area before leaving the machine.
Lock the switch in the “OFF” position to
prevent unauthorized use. Someone might
accidentally start the machine and cause injury
to themselves.
