Danke Sebastian Vettel
"I don't apologize for winning"
This was said by 'The Formidable' Sebastian Vettel in 2013 after he won the Malaysian Grand Prix, he
said this because Rage in F1 fans, mostly the Tifosis erupted as they didn't want the same driver to
win time and time again, this phase in Seb's career was called "The Villain Arc".
Born on 3rd July 1987 in the German town of Heppenheim as the third child of father Norbert and
Mother Heike Vettel, Sebastian is one of the most noteworthy and successful drivers in Motorsports
history. Vettel has won more than 50 races, has bagged 57 pole positions and has achieved around
120 podium finishes driving for BMW Sauber, Torro Rosso, Red-Bull and Scuderia Ferrari, although
his most remarkable achievement is winning the World Driver's Championship for Red-bull in 4
consecutive seasons.
Apart from being a Formula 1 driver, Sebastian is also an established activist who has demonstrated
his love for Earth by participating in various Environmental and social justice issues. In the 2021
Hungarian Grand Prix he wore a Helmet designed as the Pride Flag, the same year he helped
clear out litter from the stadium stands after the British GP, Seb has also worked with Children in
Austria to build a Bee hotel. Furthermore, Vettel has criticized The FIA on numerous occasions asking
them to reduce carbon emissions or Boycotting the Russian GP following the Ukraine invasion which
went as planned. In May 2022, Vettel appeared on the BBC One political debate where he addressed
issues like Climate change, Energy dependency and Brexit. The following month Vettel starred on the
cover of a British magazine named Attitude, voicing support for an LGBTQ driver on the F1 grid.
In June 2022, Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from F1 by posting a video on his newly
created Instagram account where he elucidated his life story and stated that his priorities have
shifted from competing to win Championships to watching his children grow. After a report affirming
that F1 emits more carbon in a calendar year than Airplanes in a year, Seb confirmed that this was
one of the reasons he retired, he also said his retirement would give young drivers a chance to
compete in F1.
Vettel has set numerous F1 records like achieving the most poles in a season, most laps led in a
season, most consecutive wins, most consecutive doubles, hat-tricks, and grand slams, Vettel is the
only driver to get more than 50 podiums for two different teams. Seb became the youngest F1 driver
to win a championship in 2010 for Red-bull and to be a runner-up in a championship in 2009.
Vettel has been one of the most influential people in the history of sports, he is idolized by both
young and old. Seb's attitude, work ethic and mindset made him who he is, he joined F1 as a
replacement for injured Robert Kubica and even after devastating seasons, he never fell apart, he
was always there for his team and crew. Surely, Seb has encouraged the young generation to always
think positively in many ways, whether by being the funniest and humblest driver on the grid or by
his simple acts for society, the environment and charity.
Even though he is retiring at the end of the 2022 season, Sebastian Vettel has created a conspicuous
legacy that will be remembered for generations to come. We would like to express our gratitude to
him with all our hearts for the amazing time he devoted to this motorsport.
Danke für alles Sebastian Vettel.
